hey, my 01 F50 cima lights seem uneven on the road but seein as they are rare over here i have nothing to compare them to. the drivers side doesnt shine as far as the passenger and has a square stagger. So the kerb side lights further than the road side. i attached a pic.

is it normal for this or is there adjustment to even them. The lights are tilt adjustable but it moves both. Also i noticed in the driveway when the wall is close to the lights that both sides "search" or automatically lower and raise constantly like its sensing something.

Any help appreciated

thanks

I assume your Cima is a righthand drive. There will be a difference between the left hand and right hand patterns to minimize blinding oncoming traffic.

But more importantly, on my 02 Q45 there is a motor with in each headlamp that will deflect the beam downward. It was meant to compensate for tail dragging with a loaded trunk. It also functions to turn the headlamps into fog lamps. There should be a knob on the instrument panel to command the deflection.

It is possible that the motor has failed in the down position on one side. Exercise the knob to confirm.

there is no motor in the 01'. My 97' is exactly the opposite, you know i have never posted this question up here to the 2nd Gen crew, but I got hit in a parking lot about 6 years ago and they knocked out the passenger side and when it was replaced the passenger stuck out a little further. I had the body shop balance them 3 times and each times said that is the way it was.

I think this is by design and yours is exactly the opposite of mine, so if your right-hand drive this may be as designed, with a little more light not going to the opposite drivers eyes as to the curb lane.

yes it is right hand drive, and yes it does have the knob to compensate for the rear weight by lowering the lights. I have tried lowering the lights to "3" and raising them back to "0" but like i said, they move togethor so its the same pattern of light disbursemnt only pointing more to the road. I've been told that it does this to minimize blinding oncoming traffic which is why the driver side is lower but just wanted someone to confirm that theres does the same or if it is meant to be even.

Seeing they're HID lights and there is 7 globes I wouldn't know which to change or even how to change HID lights. And seeing as the brightness are even on both sides i doubt it is the globes themselves burning out. Thanks though.

I did replace my headlamp bulbs, they are not the HID in the 97' and it was aimed exactly the same way.
