My son has a 01 Altima SE 4cylinder.

He managed to break the timing chain which also broke the front cover and chain tensioner. He said it happened under "normal" driving conditions from accelerating from a stop.

I can get a new chain kit and cover but I am wondering if the head, valves and pistons where also likely damaged on that model?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom.No problem,I THINK ! I have the same engine, but in the D21 pickup.i dodged a bullet,no damage to the timing cover, just the lower gear, and guides.AND it looks like there is no damage to my cylinders, etc. That's rare to ever see that happen. I am here, newly registered , to figure out how to install the new gears, guides, and chain.FORGOT HOW ! Does the two dots line up on the gears,or do they both point straight up ? There is a certain procedure THAT MUST BE FOLLOWED ! :dblthumb:
