I have a 2001 Altima 2.4L. I just bought it, it stripped several starters out and previous owner said issue started after replacing the distributor because of a bad cam sensor. (im sure it was aftermarket from local parts house). so at random it will sound as if it fires premature and the motor just stops turning or backspins while trying to crank it over. when this happens, it sets a code P0340 Cam sensor bank1 and a P0325 Knock sensor bank1. I drove it today and it didnt mess up the first time or 2 starting it. but after a thorough drive to warm it up it did(not sure if that was a coincidence or not. I set the timing with a light today and it wasnt off by much though... Im at a loss. not sure what would cause such a weird issue. possibly change the distributor out with an oem one? I was thinking about the timing jumping and the distributor being stabbed wrong but it wouldnt start and run good and time properly at 20 degrees BTDC if everything wasnt correct right?
