I was blessed today with the following codes:

P0138 - 02 Sensor circuit slow response - Bank 1 Sensor 2

P0139 - 02 Sensor Circuit High Volts - Bank 1 Sensor 2

So... at one of the local parts stores we looked at 02 Sensor locations for the '00 Maxima, and of course the California cars are different... I was asked if my car was a CA car, and after looking under my hood and looking at my door jamb I'm a bit confused. California is mentioned under my hood (it is also mentioned under my girlfriends' '00 GLE's hood)... so I'm left scratching my head.

So here's a Photobucket album of our hood and door jamb stickers: http://s306.photobucket.com/al...kers/

I'm just trying to locate the Bank 1 Sensor 2 location... but I guess I now also want to know if my girlfriend and I have California cars.

Given by the stickers. You both have Federal Emissions cars. At least to my understanding. California emissions cars (like mine) are denoted by a "NLEV" reference. Also, an easier way to check it out is to pop the hood, look for some connections above the front exhaust manifold. If it's Fed it'll have 3 connections and 1 empty. If it's Cali it'll have 4 connectors. I believe the sensor you're looking for is one behind the Cat in the main exhaust pipe. I hate to do this but on Maxima.org a guy named soonerfan has posted up a good thread about it. Here's the link. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=559038 You won't be able to ask questions because it's locked but at least you'll be able to see the locations. I wouldn't bother asking questions in that forum anyway. Everyone on there just likes to flame everyone. This forum is far more friendly.

NLEV IS referenced in the top line of the bottom paragraph on the hood stickers of both of our cars... hmm... I'm gonna go outside and look at the exhaust manifolds...

Your car is cali spec the cali spec maximas have 4 o2 sensors the two main ones are the ones that control air to fuel ratio the two secondary ones are not really needed they are just monitoring sensors. The two main sensors are the ones closest to your engine on the front and rear exhaust banks. If you want instead wasting alot of money replacing secondary o2 sensors get a dual output o2 simulator like this onehttp://www.o2simulator.com/ind...id=10I have hotshot headers on my car and run this and have no check engine or service engine soon light heres a pic of it

guess I wasn't paying quite enough attention. You indeed have a Cali specced car. I would go for the O2 sims (as I might be doing in the near future). I plan on getting a nice exhaust as well. Good luck with your situation
