Have been running M1 fully syn 5w30 in it.
Any suggestions?
It does spark knock a little even with prem.

Should I go to 10w30?
How about high mileage M1 ??

For as long as you don't have oil consumption issues stick to your current weight. But if you want true synthetic oil, then got for M1 0W-40 (or Amsoil, Royal Purple, German Castrol, etc.)

Hi SVTCOBRA, I also have a 2000 Max GLE with same mileage. Can you define spark knock? Mine is "knocking" with hard acceleration even though I constantly run premium here in Los Angeles. Gas mileage averages 22-23, so it doesn't seem like motor's doing okay. Is this your symptom also?

Might be a carbon problem on the pistons (probably on top of them). Try a de-carbonizer pressurized cleaning technique which attaches directly to the fuel rail rather than the air intake, You will shut off your fuel pump for this and will probably have to change your plugs if there is a lot of carbon blowing out. Just my guess

I have cleaned my injectors (other cars) in the past using this same technique with a set of gauges....is this the same thing??

Chris, sounds the same as our 00 Max
