I've noticed that my daughter's Max seems to be a little floaty on straight roads...this is after driving the G's though.

Is it time to replace the struts/shocks??

If so, any recommendations?? Any brands/models to stay away from?? On a budget too.

Time for plugs??

Thanks!!

Replacing plugs never hurts. I recommend the NGK iridium just to get the lifespan. As far as struts are concerned, check out the suspension thread:

Thanks!!! So, looks like TOKICO HP BLUE would be the ticket, unless there is something more economical (not replacing springs).

Blues will work great with stock springs, so there's no need to replace them unless you're looking for a drop or change in handling.

What is your opinion on KYB G-2's?One of my front strut bellows is shot and I'm thinking of just letting it be until the spring. The car still rides and handles well. (69k miles). It's a lot of work to just replace the bellows so I thought I'd just let the strut(s) wear out and replace the whole works.

By bellow, do you mean the strut boot that covers the shaft? When I installed my Tokico's, I 86'd those.

I know some people run the KYB's, but I'd be willing to bet more run Tokico.

Yes, I mean the boot that covers the shaft. I thought that without it dirt and grit would adhear to and prematurely wear the shaft/seal. Especially up here in Canada where road salt will soon be in abundance. So you run your shafts naked?Either way. I'm not replacing the struts/shocks till they show signs of needing to be. I guess I'll decide between KYB and Tokico when the time comes.

In that case, you may need to keep them on.

Problem is that it's not keeping itself on. The front left is cracked, deteriorated and just plain shot. It's hanging down and the strut shaft is exposed. I've probably got about 6-8 weekends left b4 the weather starts to turn ugly and I'm thinking a job like this is hardly worth while considering the milage on the struts.

Yes, I know. But the amount of work involved just to change the boot(s) is as much as changing the strut(s). Is it not? My thoughts are that it's hardly worth putting new boots on struts with almost 70k miles on them.Unless there's a "split, snap & seal" version available. I'd be all for something like that.
