2000 Infiniti QX4 4wd Automatic 178k miles

Preexisting condition- Needs a tuneup bad (Cyl 3 misfire fouled plugs)

The QX was idling and stalled, and failed to start afterwardsIt did start the next morning yet only stayed on for a minute before shutting off again and refusing to start again.

It turns and seems like its about to start but just doesnt make it.

Fuel pump is priming, starter is turning, and charging system power is there

there are two CEL codes- Cyl 3 misfire and P0340 camshaft Pos sensor came on later

There is spark and then when its tested later there is not spark, its kind of odd

Ok, now I know I need to start off with the cam pos sensor, but anyone have some other ideas of where this can lead? possible a crankshaft pos sensor, bad MAF, etc?

thanks

Make sure the fusible link on the positive battery cable isn't corroded.

sounds like the distributor took a dump. Just pop the cap off and make sure the rotor spins so you know that the timing belt didn't break and probably put a distributor in and it should start.

i agreee that the distributor failed. the P0340 code for the cam sensor is a dead give away that it died. the cam sensor is interal to the distributor. and i would also when cheicking to see if the rotor turns make sure to disconnect the 2-wire plug from the distributor so you dont get shocked.
