00 I30t, storage bin on dash cracked, color coming off trim

Anyone have issue with the color/finish coming off the trim areas around the clock and center vents? Our car is sticky feeling, and the color just wipes right off, looks like bleach spots or something. Also, where the storage lid is, in the center closest to the windshield, the trim has cracked and now our lid is useless, it won't open. Dealer wants $235 just for this piece, and God only knows what they want for the other parts that are peeling away. Where can I get replacements at a great price? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well ive never heard of the color coming off but i've seen a few i30s with the dash cracked including mine. You can actually take that whole piece out. The reason its probably cracked because that lid uses springs to lift itself up and the supports on the lid itself break and the misguided pressure cracks the dash up. I took all that stuff that holds the lid up out, the brackets and supports and springs and kinda ghetto rigged it so it would just sit flat. As for the color, I dunno man maybe you can find a good apolstry shop to take a look at it? Junk yard is always an option. That cubby really isnt that hard to remove and replace.
