'00 and '01 SE Model Wheels

I have noticed on fifth gen SE Maxima's that are pre-2k2 that some have 17" wheels and some have 16" wheels like the GLE's from those years. Does anyone know if the 17's were available as an option on these models, or if it was the other way around? I don't think that it is a case of switching wheels between trims because of the large number of Maxima SE's I have seen for sale with either size wheel.
