Hey guys, new to this forum, not new to nissans, although this is my first altima, I'm more used to the older stuff, anyways I have a 00 altima love the car, 170,000 on the odometer, the person before me overheated the engine, so they had it replaced when I got it, put maybe 2000 miles on it and the motor in trash now, sun the rod bearings and everything, the place that put the motor in are being a bunch of a holes, but I was wondering if any one has tried to put the qr25 in this model altima and what modifications would need to be done to put that motor in? Reason I ask is because I can pick up a qr25 for free, any help would be greatly appreciated

If you look at the Haines manual for the car, it had the 2.5 qr25de option as well as the normal 2.4 ka24de. The engine should fit, but the mounts will be different, and you'll need a new ECU and wiring harness. You need more than just a free engine. If the engine cradle, transmission, wheel hubs, driveshafts, wiring harness and ECU comes along, go for it. If not, stick with the ka24de. Pay the $400 for a junkyard engine and enjoy a much easier install.
