Ok well my car is running again and it's awsome. I absolutely love it. So after driving for a while I decided to get on it a bit. So I fly through first shift fly through second shift, then surge and the car hit the limiter. WTF oh damn that sucks. Anyway my speedomete is reading two times my actual speed. Says I'm doing 80 when actually doing 40. Did I mix up the wires when wiring the speedo. Or do I need a USDM speedo in my SR. I have a 92 automatic KA24DE transmission, can I use that sensor, or do I need to get a manual sensor? Help me out fellas.

I'm not quite sure what you have now, but SR comes with speed sensor calibrated for kmph and works with JDM gauge cluster (or Canadian) that reads in kmph. USDM speed sensor is in mph, and matches USDM cluster.

Any mix match will yeild weird results..

Switch your speed sensor from the KA, and you're golden.

S13 KA and SR manual trans speed sensors use the same color gear, they are interchangeable. We have swapped them around many times and they both work.

The one that came on the SR trans should work fine, we did 3 auto-to-manual swaps and all 3 worked fine like that.

If that doesn't work look for shorts in the speedo wiring by the ECU or switched wires.

Hey Jeff this is Rob from Anacortes. I was going to ask you something about my speedo that I forgot to ask today. I may have the speedo wires switched. You know the ones by the battery. I couldn't tell which wire splices where. Do you think this is causing the problem?

Hey Jesse - and everyone else who I recognize on here...

I think the wiring by the fusebox for the trans harness is the first place to look since you did the auto --> manual swap. I don't think just switching the speed sensor wires would do that.

If you are still stuck call me and I will send you a MT speed sensor and you can try swapping them out, maybe yours is damaged.

Yeah the wires didn't do anything when we switched them. I will talk to you on monday when your open. Thanks Jeff.
