Well....here are 3 new runs from running at Moroso tonight. I would have got in more runs but two cars broke down separately on the track closing it down for a while until it was cleared....including a SC Mustang that blew his engine right at the end of the 1/4 because he screwed up on the launch and was trying to over compensate at the end of his run (smoke everywhere)....

Moroso 1/5/05 95Q45T With Headers/Exhaust/JWT ECU/HomeDepot AirIntake Special With K&N Box Filter/3.54 Gears & 147,000 miles

All is exactly the same as this summer in the July heat....temp was forecasted to be about 71 tonight with a lot less humidity than in July. I can see that the heat factor really takes the HP right out of the car as 0.3secs for about 13 degrees cooler and less humidity makes a huge difference. I will run again when/if it ever gets into the low 60's to see what the beast has hiding in cooler weather. Just maybe my original goal of breaking 14.0 1/4 ET is still somewhat attainable if it is cool enough.

I screwed up on the last run #3 and held the 1-2 shift way to long becuase I felt the car all of a sudden stop accelerating as I hit the 7,300rpm rev limiter. I do have the JWT TCU, but screwed up and put in the wrong TCU the other night and have not had a chance to switch it back out. I have 3 different TCU's....a JWT, 93 TCU, and my original 95 TCU and me and a buddy were trying out some different combos the other night and I screwed up and reinstalled the wrong TCU in the dark.

There were several nice cars there tonight....3 Vipers (one 2005 Viper) couple new C6's & older ZO6 (the new C6 was just as fast if not faster than the 3 Z06's all totally stock....the ZO6 guy was pissed, two E55's which are just plain awesome...ET of 12.5 totally stock out running the new C6. I had two comments again asking if the car was FWD after seeing the plenum. All were very impressed with the Q and how such a big car could move so quickly. The was an older Ford Lightening that the guy could not believe I ran that fast as he was only running mid 14's. Below are some older 1/4 ET's for your references. I think that the cost of the headers has finally paid off giving me an extra 0.4 secs off my 1/4 times.

I am going to add an enclosed (totally sealed) Pop Charger for the next time I run to see if that helps things out and make sure that I have the JWT TCU so I don't have any more guess work on when so shift screwing up a good run by hitting the rev limiter....

Booyah baby!

Those are very respectable times considering, I would be happy with them, and you should be as well.

I wasn't in on the bet, but I woulda taken some of that action myself.

Thanks for posting, and racing, sans bench. =)

Hey, I've got a track about 25 miles from me. What do you have to do to get on a lane? It'd be interesting to see what this stock high mileage Q could do. I'll talk to my friend who has other friends that race there.

NIce runs, now we can compare to a street leagal stock Q. No Homedepot hoses

I'm pumped again after not getting my wheels.

Cost is about $15 to run and all you need to do is get the car tech inspected which is easy if everything is in good operating order (nothing leaking or a bunch of loose junk laying around inside the car). The sad think is that I spent over 7 hours from the time I left Miami until the time I returned for only 3 runs at a total of about 45 secs of excitement. Ohh well....that is the price I guess one pays for such fun. The track is about 80 miles away from my house....up in West Palm. There was even a Yugo running last night.

Well done Rob!

As always, great to see a Q out there making believers out of the uninformed.

Great writeup - Can't wait to get some times out of my Q now that I have the JWT... Still need to score a set of BBS's and some drag radials.

Also, it's important to keep in mind that the difference between a 14.2 car and a low 15's car is HUGE on the street.

That's an arse-whuppin waiting to happen.

Nice runs Rob....I think I'd like to try it again in cooler weather as well. Maybe I can get this 96Q in the low 15's.

what up fastlane....long time no see. Well when the weather gets cooler (low 60's) I will shoot you and email to see if you are ready for some runs at Moroso again. I have a video camera so maybe we can take turns video taping each other...your 96 will probably do mid 15's in cooler weather just as I shaved off 0.3 secs on my car....the Q hates hot & humid Miami weather

My new times are great, but I had pretty much written off the Q and have been concentrating on what to buy next but now that I got some good times...I have that damn carbon fiber driveshaft in the back of my mind....Ugghh!!! I should give my Q more respect as I had not thought of it as that fast even though I have one or tied some races with some very nice cars on the freeway

I'm looking forward to it....This time I won't have a 3/4 full gas tank and a trunk full of stuff. That should help a little. I'm still putting on about 90 miles a day (up to 152K now) so I'm racing every day......The car is still running strong. I kicked a Lincoln LS V8's butt today.

I bet you guys up north think we are goofy waiting for it to cool down to the 60's

Not at ALL, we went from highs in the 20's, 2 weeks ago to lows in the upper 40's with lots of rain moisture. The difference is so noticable, if only I could create 30 degree air under the hood all year long .

Attaboy rsiwicki!!! I love the fact that you are getting these times with the 3.54 rear. Keep those low ET's coming! Hey. You don't have the ACPT CF driveshaft do you?Huh. A natrually aspirated G50 w/3.54 gears that can get a 13.999 or lower 1/4 ET is the Q45 of my dreams. You and sijoko (with his 4.08) are so close. Ooooh!Stealth. It's a beautiful thing.

thanks for the thumbs up.....

I don't have the carbon fiber driveshaft, but after doing a nice run like this I am getting the urge to go and get it and continue on with my madness for more speed. I do love the stealthyness of my Q as it cosmetically has seen better days with all the parking lot dings, dents, and key marks....but sure does run like hell on fire.

rsi,

Since you have some miles on your car, your driveshaft is probably getting worn out.

The rubber isolator/flex joint on my driveshaft was cracked pretty bad, so I needed a new driveshaft anyway.

So I figured, that for an extra few hundred dollars more, I can have the Carbon Fiber Shaft.

The next time you are under the car, look at the rubber flex joint/coupling near the trans. side of the driveshaft. It might be on its way out.

sijoko....

Lol.....If only I had known about NICO about 2 years ago then I would have saved myself a ton of monies with all these mods and be replacing these worn out OEM parts with new performance oriented parts along the way. The driveshaft was replaced by the dealer at 117K miles under an aftermarket warranty for $1,050 dealer install along with the transmission being rebuilt (again under warranty) at about 120K miles. If I had known about NICO when these parts originally went to "kaput" you can bet I would be sporting a new carbon fiber driveshaft. Thanks for the props.....I may just pull the trigger this summer and get me a carbon fiber driveshaft for the hell of it since I have just about every speed oriented mod already done to the Q. I am still working on getting my 4.08 rebuilt correctly so that it does not whine anymore without going hopefully going through Unitrax and coughing up $1,200 plus shipping. Yeeouuchh!!!!

current pricing for carbon fiber drive shaft is about $1,500 from Pete at the same company you got yours....the raw material prices went up over 35% since the time you got yours built so it costs more now but I still think it is a very solid mod for the monies....

Depending on whatever car I get next I will be sure to look for performance speed oriented mods to replace the OEM part so I don't have to go through all this pain and suffering in my wallet buying things I should have bought in the first place

Wow, $1500 is a chunk of change. I didn't realize that the price had gone up that much. I paid $1100 with shipping.

If anything, I was expecting the cost to come down as more people showed interest in the Carbon Fiber Driveshaft.

Anyway, I still say that it's worth it. The weight difference is astounding between the stock unit and the CF unit: 43 lbs vs. 14 lbs.

SSHHEEIITT!!!!! Damn....30lbs difference in rotating mass is huge. Now why did you have to go and tease me with this mod....now I am druelling (sp?) like Pavlo's dog wanting that sucker.....Ugghh!!!

Pete did give us a good price this past summer when I spoke with him about a group buy. He could do a group buy of 3 for $1,300 but had to have 3 confirmed and fully paid for orders within a 1 month period to get that price otherwise $1,500 was the pricing....
