I've been debating with my wife about a new vehicle and she said I could get a truck. Anyone know any (valuable) information about the Ram SRT-10?

Thank you, Nala. That was very helpful, a little opinionated, but very helpful. JK bro, I think they're sick and want one pretty bad!

As a truck, the single cab manual version is useless. Guzzles gas, and can't tow anything.

The crew cab with the auto can tow IIRC.

They've depreciated rapidly.

I hear the Lightnings are more useful as trucks. If the Lightning was AWD, I'd have one right now.

Chevy made some AWD SS models a few years ago that could be an option, but they didn't have near the power of the SRT-10 and the Lightning.

Yeah I know all the basic stuff. I just want to know if anyone knows if it would be a good buy. Im trying to make sure if its dependable or if theres any underlying issues.

what are you going to use it for?

i think they are pointless if your actually going to need to use them as trucks

I agree. My wife won't let me get anymore sports cars so I'm pulling a fast one! Thats my underlying goal, shhhhhhh.

I'd opt for an SS or Lightning I think.

I'm not sure about the SS but I know the lightning actually had a tow rating.

OR you could be a baller and get one of these.

I think the argument can be made that any 1/2 ton isn't really a truck anyway. That big box on the back is useful for throwing cans though.

I would assume the major downfall might be getting parts for a decent price for the engine since it's relatively rare. I'd look on Viper forums and see what issues they're having there. Maybe you'll find a used Viper buyers guide or something.

Personally I'm fond of the Lightning's but I'd rather have a hopped up Cummins (I'll take mine with 12 valves thank you), Duramax, or Powerstroke over any of the "sport" trucks.

The rednecks out in Frederick like the Lightning, I've heard plenty of them that sound JUST SICK, dude... Great pickup IMO. The bed on a few of them is kinda small tho.

Aside from the HORRIBLE gas mileage and it being a Chrysler, you should be fine, lol.

But really, I think you'd be more happy with a Silverado SS. They have a strong V8, are AWD, and they have endless parts for that engine and model of Silverado.

Also, the SRT-10 Rams are prone to flipping.

Ehh I dunno about that one. I see what you mean cause most of the stuff you can use it for could be done in a van or something but if you need the space (i.e. like my dad carrying wood/cement/random things) theres no replacement.

I'm a bit biased. IMO a real truck needs a goose neck hitch and a diesel. You can still throw stuff in the back too.

I see what you're saying. I'd love to get a crew cab 4x4 with a diesel. Or an Excursion. Big trucks with diesels are sweet.

CR's owner surveys ranked the Dodge Ram pickup line as average for reliability, average for satisfaction (as in would you buy another), but more expensive than average to maintain. The 2WD versions are considerably more reliable than the AWD.

If you're thinking performance, straight line is about all its good for. It also uses a lot of gas for a daily driver as compared to most everything else.

I'm not a fan. There are a lot of choice out there butit all depends on your needs. What will you be using it for and how many miles a year do you think you'll be doing?
