So, I've already got the coilovers, and am in the process of installing them.

I am removing some KYB AGX + Eibach Sportlines in the front right now, and I was putting on the front set of coilovers, but my bolts for the KYBs are bigger than the holes on the Stance Coilovers. Clearly, I need new (smaller) bolts, but will this fix the issue entirely? Will I need spacers, any bushings, etc?

Here's a pic from the tech article for reference.

what bolts? where they connect to the knuckle? Those should be oem.... you're probably not lining the holes correctly.

I'm not sure and correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the bolts on the knuckle different in size from S13 to S14?

thinking if he got the right coilover for the S13...

hmm... probably

the dead giveaway if he had s14 coils is the rears being really really tall

Yes, the bracket where it connects to the steering knuckle. Those bolts, sorry.

My coilovers look exactly like the ones pictured.

Any way to double check they are the correct ones for the S13?

Yes, this is what I thought as well, however, they are too big (around) for the holes in my coilovers.

Don't know enough about Stance to find any info from looking at the picture you posted.

But my next question to you is....does the knuckle and KYB's look like they were drilled out or tampered with, on the holes?

Does it say what yr the coilovers are made for S13/S14? Maybe a part number to look up at their website to see if you got the correct ones...

The car is at the garage, so I'll have to take pics tomorrow.

I also found all of my old receipts / info for the coilovers, and it said I was shipped S13 coilovers (Which is what I need).

I am also 5 lug converted already, so I don't know if that might be an issue...

maybe I'm wrong but did they convert your car to 5 lug by using the front knuckles from a s14, if so just drill out the coilovers and be done with it.

IDK what's exactly required to convert to 5 lug, but did you have to use the S14 knuckle to convert?

But I would double check what the part # is ON the coilover. It's possible that they put the wrong coilover for the front in the box. Were you able to put the rears on?

oops just read that u have a 5 lug conversion you probably have the S14 knuckle on ur car the s14 uses a bigger bolt then the s13 so you just need to drill out the holes ur return the front ones for s14

Or get steel sleeves made to make the bolt holes smaller and use S13 bolts. That's what I did, since I didn't want to drill out my shocks.

So get sleeves made so you can use S13 bolts, you should be able to get bolts at the local junkyard and any decent machine shop can make steel sleeves for you.

The sleeves look like this.http://www.5lugsleeves.com/

This is what I figured was the issue, but I wasn't sure if I'd have any problems drilling out the hole on the coilover. We've already planned to do that tomorrow, so I shouldn't have any problems later on because I drilled the holes, right?

s13/14 coilover wouldn't be an issue cause the front sets are same on both...should fit no prob. to stock though..weird

OK, Small update since I didn't really respond or anything...

NEW PARTS:

At the moment the car is on jack stands in the front while I disassemble it. Right now a friend and I have everything on the front changed out with the exception of brakes.

Here's some pics along the way to show some progress. Sorry if the quality is bad, they were all taken on my Droid.

Front end is almost completely rebuilt (new power steering rack, tie rod & tie rod ends, new boots, new coilovers [Stance GR + Pro], new Power Steering Pump & Lines, New rotors, New Stainless Steel lines, rebuild & Powder coated 300zx 30mm brakes.)

Here's some pics of the calipers and how they turned out powder coated.

And, I want you guys' opinions on whether or not this over spray / over powder is OK on these pistons or if I should clean it? If I should clean them, what should I use? Thanks.

Thanks for looking.

i have a s13 and did the same exact thing you did, going from KYB to GR+PRO's. just use OEM size bolts and it should fit. i had some mismatching ones in my KYB's as well for some reason and luckily had my buddy's parts car sitting 20 feet away and we just took off the OEM bolts and used them for the Stances.

??? OEM Size bolts for what?

I have the issue fixed, i believe I might be using 300zx knuckles as the previous owner of this car had a 300zx parts car. (Hence the 5 lug & 300zx wheels, brakes, etc...)

I just hope when I check the rears it's still the S13 uprights; I don't want to have to send off for 300zx rear coilovers. I've taken a quick look and if i remember correctly it's not the fork-type upright.

If they're z32's in the rear, stance makes z32 uprights. So you wouldn't have to replace the whole coilover, just the rear bottom mounts.

Over spray on pistons should be olay. big o-ring is i the middle of cylinder and it's okay as long as nothing touches it except the piston.

Whiteline in the front & rear.

I just hope the front clears the RB25 oil pan.

Thanks. I picked up the convertible shell and the suspension was pretty much blown from day 1. When we put the RB motor in it got much worse and now I can't stand driving the car because the handling just feels terrible, but I think these parts will change that entirely. Did quite a bit of research, saving, and part gathering to get this far.

Read the instructions that came with them.

Measure fender to ground height first, determine the amount of drop you want.Remove wheel/jack stand carUse spanner wrenches to lock the two bottom rings on the coilover together.Start wrenching them so the whole coilover tube moves.Figure the rest out yourself
