if you know how to change a clutch you'll be done in a few hours... if not i suggest learning really fast, or taking it somewhere.

you really dont need an impact, tho it would help. Oil pan gasket is gonna be a lot of fun...

Might have to lift the motor, but you could turn the crank out of the way and get it out... I've done it like that on other cars before, but not sure if it works on our cars.

Clutch is easier to do with the engine out of the car. The firewall design makes it extremely difficult to put the transmission back in the car from underneath. If you don't have access to an engine lift then just loosen the front crossmember while it is supported by a floor jack then lower it to where you want it.

The oil pan gasket is easy, just drop your front sway bar and it should come out fairly easily. You have to watch out for the pickup tube though, that needs to come off before the pan will come out. Drop the pan, stick a 10mm (or 12mm, don't remember) in between the pan and engine and take off the 2 bolts holding the pickup tube on. Once it's off just slide the pan straight out.

It might be easier if you can raise the engine from the top so you have more clearance between pan and crossmember.

The oil pan gasket is not really hard at all, changing the clutch is a little more difficult to do but not much more. Just get FSM and look it over or print out some directions so you know what exactly your getting yourself into.

My 240 was my first car and I did not know how to change the oil. Just set a day aside for the clutch and a day aside for the pan and you should be good.

unfortunatly the s14's are about 20x more time comsuming then the s13 for the oil pan removal

you're going to need a friend. if you don't have access to a lift, you will need a big jack to lift up the transmission to mate the motor. I experienced with my friend, and never again I will do it on the street or driveway. this is the only work that got our a** kicked.

if I were you, you should get a brand new clutch master cylinder and slave. the diaphragm took a crap after I changed the line and could not be bled properly. I still haven't fixed it though eventually I will.

you need a two feet extension and a swivel socket for the bolts on the transmission. doing it from the ground, I had to buy this.3 quarts of transmission oilif rear main seal is leaking, now is the time to replace. if not that's fine.

This is what I want to do. Basically you are using a OEM 350z clutch. I just haven't done much reading on this yet.

as everybody else said try ur hardest to get the equipment and pull the whole engine, soooo much easier, i just finished a 5 speed swap a few weeks ago in mine dropping the tyranny from underneath and we ended up pounding the firewall in to make clearance easier to put the 5 speed in

im actually using an rb fidanza lightweight fw w/ an excedy oem replacement z32 na clutch. i dont think the z33 clutch will work w/ the fidanza cuz its just a touch larger in diameter but it should work on the d21 flywheel, the d21 fw being another option for fw that u can use.

if ur staying na id say just go w/ the z32 non-t clutch. u can get it for $145 compared to the z33 clutch that costs about $295, and the z32 na clutch has been known to handle over 300whp on ka-t's. the d21 flywheel is also heavier which should be good for street driving and u can probably get one for about $60. giving u a decent total of about $205 for a clutch setup that can handle 300hp+ and feels near stock, only catch is that u have to research... if u think ur up for it.

zerothread?id=379779

heres a link to my write up using the rb fw and z32na clutch.

oh and as far as the tob i used the one that came w/ the clutch kit but i think either one will work. i had both a new one from nissan for the 240 and the one that came w/ the kit. the one w/ the kit, if i recall, was a little bigger but the inside diamater was the same. ull want to double check when u get all ur parts together. the pilot bushing was the same for me, the one that came w/ the kit and the new one from nissan for the 240sx.

i hope this post has been usefull

I know my buddy used the flywheel and clutch from a d21 hardbody truck on his kouki, and if i recal was a much cheaper solution. It bolted right up, although I am not sure what throw out bearing he used. His user name is Nissanguy16 if you want to message him.

white bunny is the s***, except dont cheap out on the clutch assembly, get an exedy unit, or go for the 280z turbo clutch, about 50~60 bux more than the d21 clutch setup. My total was under 200 for the new(lifetime) FW and the clutch set(also lifetime) Main thing about the white bunny is the fly wheel needs to grind down the dust shield, or you can cut it and smash it so it does not rub. And knocking off the brass "alignment pin" ,I lightly hit it and it shot across my yard.

Very daily driver friendly and holds the power well drifting(11psi from a small t3), just dont go flat shifting into 4th at 30miles an hour and you should be good. I put about 200 miles on mine for break in and started drifting it 1~3 times a week. Odometer doesnt work good so I am not sure how many miles but its probably 1500~2000.
