Hi, I have noticed that some people have mentioned that their driver seat moves a little bit when you apply brakes. I started to notice that my seat moves too when I brake. Does anyone know how to fix it.

Thanks a lot in advance

The same thing happened to me when I first purchased my M. I took it into the dealership so they could look at it. They found that the tracks underneath the seat were all jacked up and needed replacing.

They replaced mine under warranty and it took them about 4 days to do it since they had to order the parts to come in. They said it was really common in the M's and they've seen it a lot. I know some other NICO forum members have discussed it happening to them also.

I don't know if this is exactly whats going on with yours but I went through the same thing so I'm assuming it's probably the same issue. Take it to the dealership man and see what they find.

Theres a TSB regarding this, and my dealer replaced the tracks under my seat, under warranty. They must have had the parts in stock, because it only took a few hours.

I think you have 5k more miles for these type of issues and 15k more for powertrain. Buying your M used should not void the factory warranty unless something crazy happened with the car.

You could get a lot of things looked at before it's on your dime .... hell you still have time to get an extended warranty!

Give it a try.

Mine is only noticeable under hard braking so its not that big of a deal. Besides, i think Stevethetech mentioned one time that it would cost over 1500 bucks to fix...no way I could justify that with the wife!! lol

I bought mine with 57.5k and I had them replace the stuff below in my sig (not petty stuff!) You just have to make your case.

this is one of the first things i also noticed when buying my M45 this summer.. It was drving me crazy.. guess i "hard brake" alot.. anyway.. my dealer had my car 10 days to fix this and other minor stuff. they had to order a new track and it took quite a while.. from what my service guy told me, it's quite an expensive fix.. would probably pay for most of an extended warranty by itself.. now my bluetooth keeps disconnecting with my phone, so they ordered me a whole new nav unit... that and install would have been over 2k.. glad i'm still under warranty.. gonna be hard not to buy the extended warranty for this car.. two little things like a seat track and a faulty bluetooth and I would have been looking at about 4k.. crazy!

Seat feels perfect now, but thinking about it, i for one couldn't live with it.. mine was moving like 1/2" forward when hard braking.. actually to me it seems like something that should be covered even out of warranty.. like a safety recall type of thing.. i'd just go there and b**** like crazy! Good luck!

btw. i like when they take their time fixing such things.. i had a G37 loaner for 10 days and had to take two trips down to San Diego during that time.. lots of miles and my car was parked.. this last time for the nav (which is now back ordered), i had a Ex 35 for about two weeks before they finally told me they'd call me when the part comes in.. anyway.. another 1,200 miles on their car.. pretty cool.. !

I guess I should have pressed this issue more with my dealer while my car was still under warranty. I reported this issue to them before but all they did was tighten the whole frame assembly to the floor. The seat still slides a little under moderate braking. I remeber the service writer saying something like 1300-1500 for a whole new frame. Well it is just one of the minor annoyances that every car has. I still like my car.

I finally fix it. I went to dealer and they told me that they have to change the entire rail assembly. After they installed the new one and showed me the old one it was twisted and bended.

For all future people who have this issue, call up your local Infiniti Service Department and mention TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) Number ITB07029.

Here is a detailed description of the TSB:IF YOU CONFIRM When accelerating, stopping, or turning, the driver seat bottom and/or seatback makes noise (clicking, creaking, or clunking) and/or moves (rocks/moves back and forth).

If you are still under warranty the dealer will cover the costs.

If you reported the problem before you were out of warranty, i think you should be covered. I would definitely talk to the service manager and tell him you reported it while under warranty and it not only was not fixed but has gotten worse. Worth a try.

Since it is a 2007 (and considering that it is still under 60k miles) it is still covered by the 4 year/60k mile Basic warranty coverage that comes with all Infinities and doesn't matter where the car was purchased and if it was purchased with a warranty. Therefore, this TSB should be covered for free by the dealer.

Is the dealer giving you a hard time about it?

I am on my second M45, my last one did this and my new one does too. I haven't had the chance to bring it in to be fixed yet.

That is GREAT to know...I just got my 2006 M35 and it just turned 59k!! I should really see where the closest infiniti dealership is and see if they'll fix it ASAP! Thanks for the info!!!

I am out of warranty on my M35 Sport and I have the moving seat issue, I was able to get a history report of the service work done and need to check to see if it was fixed by the original owner, if it has and has gone bad again, I need to have them fix it again, but if not, I guess I am like the other people who said they will have to deal with it. Oh well!!!!

Well I have talked to the dealer twice so far. Of course everyone is saying that it is out of warranty so there is nothing to be done. One guy did say bring it in and there is the small possiblity ( and if I have been getting enough of my maintenance done with the dealership) Infiniti may fix it under good will. I am considering making an appoinment but am not sure. The issue does not bother me that much and I really wonder if it would be worth all the hassle only to find out the answer is no. Evertime I go to the dealership its on a week day when I can stop by after work. It's not exactly on the way home. We shall see. I really don't want to go through all of the trouble of making an appoinmtent and giving up a couple extra hours of my day to find out the answer is still no.

I have a 07 M35. Its a rebuilt title. I do have extended warranty. The bottom of my driver seat moves when I brake. I know Infiniti has a TSB ITB07029 to replace this rail when it fails in our cars. But will they do it if my title is rebuilt?

Does anyone have a picture of what exactly is bent and / or twisted in the old rail?

Mine does the same thing, but my car is now out of warranty.

What are my options here - any way this can be done b me, or another shop if the dealership is charging so much?

Bought my car off-lease from California. Owner had it fixed under warranty in CA. Brought into dealer on Saturday to get the SAME problem fixed under warranty. Glad I am still under warranty.
