I've always wanted to get a Premium in my search for a 2007 M35x. But they were very hard to find. So I've ventured out in creating my own Premium. I'm working on the Headrest Video, and I'll share in a few weeks of my progress. In the meantime, I got an aftermarket power sunshade and wanted to share the install.

Here are the pieces that came with it:

1) The sunshade2) A wireless RF remote3) Wires and connector to tap into continuous power from the car and ground4) A clip to easily clip a power line from the car (I used the rear trunk lamp), and a ring to hook around a nut/bolt for ground (I used the nut/bolt for the Amp in the rear-left of the trunk).5) An RF receiver/power box that connects to the power and to the shade.

It took me a while just set things up. I had to remove the rear trunk finisher (the service manuals are very easy to follow) to find a power line and place to ground. I thought of using the Satellite radio or Bose Amp, but decided later it was easier and less intrusive to just go against the trunk lamp power (it's the brown wire). I also decided to use the Bose Amp bolt as the ground as it was good locationally.

Here's the hookup in the trunk:

Ground:

Power:

How I went into the trunk (there's a 2.5 x 2.5 inch opening that I could run a wire through right underneath one of the car seat anchor and I pulled the wire into the car from there):

One more pic of the hookup:

I then had to center the shade and test it. It has an adjustment dial for how far up the shade needs to go and after finding the best location and the height/angle I needed. I fixed the two plastic bases to the trunk finisher with 4 screws and voila! I was done.

Here are pics of the shade in different stages of up and down. I'll try to load some videos on the YouTube and share it later. The wireless remote has 3 buttons, up, down, power (stop).

Enjoy!

(Please disgregard the messy garage!!)

Nice work. How about that; you've got a kid who will do all the button pushing for you-a real labor saving device. Not!!

Love the Bourbon leather. In my opinion Infiniti lost a lot of interior points when they discontinued that beautiful rich colour.

I second the Bourbon interior. I like drinking it, and seeing it it Black Ms.

... I just hope your set-up doesn't rattle with the bass from the speakers.

I agree on the Bourbon. I looked literally North and South to find a low mileage Black/Bourbon with Adv. Tech. One of the main reasons I didn't consider 2008s was the Bourbon interior.

Haven't had much chance to test loud music to see if there are any vibrations. I hope not! Only tried "Beauty and the Beast" for the kid as I took a 5 minute drive just to see how the view was at night.

Hmmm... when I was looking for my M I actually opted NOT to get the bourbon because I'm just not a fan. There are two near me right now:

This one has been for sale for months. I think it's because it doesn't have many bells and whistles.

BTW: Nice install of the sunshade

I think they did not sell because of the base model and the mileage. When I was looking the Black/Bourbons with Adv. Tech. were hot (around 25-35k), usually selling out in less than 2 weeks.

Anyway, got to take the kid out today for the first time and must say the rear shade came in handy.

Next is custom side shades that roll up with the window. Will keep you posted...
