I'm gonna have the engine and transmission pulled soon, and My auto transmission has never worked right because of the speed sensor, I installed a new sensor but still get a code and it doesn't work, I'm guessing it's cause it's a JDM transmission but I'm threw now. I'm at the point where I'm going to rebuild my N/A and get a 5 speed put in.

So what do I need for the swap? ECU? Pedals and slave of course.

Oh and show me as many wwrite-ups as you can find. I found about two but I want all the info I can get. lol

This kinda sucks cause I just bought a Z1 one-piece, you think they'll take it back or take some credit for it? I haven't reallly got to use it lol. And it for an auto.

Not trying to burst your bubble but unless you are or know someone that's pretty mechanically inclined, you're going to spend a good deal of cash. I would sell/trade your car and get the car you want. There's a lot of na z's out there that can be had for 2500 to 3500 (in my area).

i knwo its - master, slave cylinders - metal clutch lines - shift linkage - shift assembly - front end of driveshaft - pedal assembly.....

i've been doing some research, and there are probably some things that don't come to my head at the moment....but i know someone has done this b4....and it would be nice for someone to post a link to that thread....

Check your email. I found a decent write-up how to pull it off and parts needed.

*UPDATE: your email doesn't work or the mail box is full

Not really. As long as you can find a good deal on a transmission you won't be spending much more than most spend when simply upgrading their stuff (clutch, flywheel, driveshaft).

You'll need:Brake pedal (or you'll need to modify yours but I recommend swapping)Clutch pedalClutch master and slave cylinderBrake/clutch line (steel, you can buy various lengths at auto parts stores)Stock or aftermarket stainless steel braided clutch line (goes from the steel line to the slave cylinder on the transmission, SS line recommended)Clutch kit (don't forget to put the pilot bushing in the crank)FlywheelDriveshaftShifterShifter support plate and associated rubber boots (be absolutely sure to get good condition rubber boots as they cover the holes of the shifter mount heavily decreasing the amount of noise that comes into the cabin - lower boot - upper boot).

I also recommend replacing the transmission mount as it will most likely be very worn out. I recommend going to Z1 and getting the Nismo mount. I put a urethane mount in one of my Z's and kind of regret it. Luckily I'm building a pseudo track Z so will put it in there but for a street Z, I highly recommend sticking with the rubber mounts.

Unless your budget is super tight, I recommend going straight to a one-piece driveshaft and lightweight flywheel. You can get aluminum flywheels pretty cheap used and just replace the friction surface before installing. This will save you quite a bit of money. I highly, highly recommend having your flywheel and pressure plate balanced as a unit before installing. A lot of machine and performance shops should be able to do this for pretty reasonable prices.

I also highly recommend getting the bronze bushings for the shifter before you put everything together (unless you buy Z1's high end shifter with the bearings in it).

You'll also probably need to do a bit of wiring. There are buttons on the clutch pedal that need to go to the cruise control cancel switch and another to disable the starter until the clutch is fully depressed. You'll also need to wire the reverse sensor to the wires for the reverse lights.

That's all that I can think of off the top of my head but if there's more I'll be sure to add it.

hey i got to give it to you..great info....thanks for the supportdid it happen to be that you have done this b4...or just have some knowledge into that....

now i must ask...if i'm buying the swap...engine tt and transmission...is it necessary to mod the flywheel...since i'm converting to manual..or are you just advicing...cuz i don't plan on raising boost till future....now i just want the swap...and work on the interior....

but hey...i read your post in like a minute....never read so fast in my life...not even for the f-cat...lamo

I actually swapped a Z32 transmission into an Infiniti M30 so I had even more stuff to do. Had to actually cut and weld the brake pedal and I think the clutch pedal as well. It was definitely an interesting swap but a lot of fun and not overly difficult, even though it was a completely different car with the SOHC VG30E

I would think converting the Z32 with Z32 parts would be even easier than what I did so it shouldn't be all that bad imo.

You don't necessarily have to get an aftermarket flywheel right off, you can definitely use a stock flywheel. Only reason I add that is if you want some extra performance it would be worth putting the aftermarket flywheel in while the transmission and everything is out so that you don't have to pull the transmission again at a later date.

oh snap..you did all of that...def...you just convinced me...i'm doing the conversion..heck..i'm only doing all the swap just to have a car of my own..doing the extra work should be cake...besides...the thing i don't like about auto other than being too simple..other than loss of instant power...and a few other things...is knowing that my girl could actually sit on it and drive away...its a mental thing but it bother me....

yet still if anyone has anything to add..pls do sodon't get me confused..i'm researching this sh it left to right..but you know sometimes when you guys mention things..it reassures me that what i read was right...thanks...CAPITAL THANKS
