Question for the knowledgeable about smog inspections. If I purchase a 300zx with a jdm twin turbo swap. Would I run into any problems with smog inspection and passing? Same if the car was originally n/a and swapped in a tt engine. Cause I know with jdm engine swaps for hondas/acuras or 240's they won't pass smog at all. Unless you switch out certain parts, which is a hassle and pricey. I just hope it's not the same with the 300zx. I appreciate anyone/everyone's response. And this applies only for the state of CA. Thanks!

alright with hondas all you pretty much have to do is switch to an intake manifold with an evap purge and usdm ecu with cat hooked up of course to get through BAR N REF except JDM type r you will fail regardless bc compression to high..anyways on to your answer

if its an NA with a TT swap and someone knowledgable is testing it then you wont pass bc visual if you go to JOE Shmoe then he prob will just run emissions as long as your cats are hooked up you should pass, if you have a JDM swap and want to BAR n REF then all vaccum lines must be hooked up and emissions with an USDM ECU for a TT and all lines should be black they usaully fail you if they see EX. red vaccum line considered performance part they are super strict, the only differnce between JDM engine and USDM mainly is the downpipes USDM has pre cats but from what i know as long as your main cats are hooked up you should pass

BTW last i heard they stopped doing visual at BAR and were just doing the emissions but i cant confirm that its what i heard and if this is true that makes it alot easier for people to pass since most fail visual
