Ok, well to answer the questions. Yes that is a awd transmission out of a r33 gtr. I do plan on a awd conversion a little later on but for right now just using everything for mock up. I got oil pan/diff on hold for me right now so i will convert later. Crappy thing is i am going to have to change the mounts up as soon i start the conversion. I plan on using r33 crossmember along with everything else.

But i need(want) my car right now. I have not had it on the road for some time now and am going through withdrawls. . But to confirm some questions about awd transmission's and having to cut the passenger floor. Well looks to be true. but hey got to do what you gotta do. Tommorrow i will have some time to really get some work done and hope to have mounts made up and motor where i like her.

Then i am going to pull it back out and get the bay nice and clean and fix a couple rust problems i have under the old battery tray. Thinking of sandblasting it down to bear metal and putting duplicolor truck bed coating in. Not the kind that has all the grit, but the kind that is fairly smooth.

Anyways, im tired and going to bed.

You cheeky bastahd!

Congratulations on taking the plunge!

AWD > RWD!

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

What engine will you use for the AWD swap when it comes time?

Remeber, AWD and RWD blocks are different when it comes time to get that Front diff on!

But just the AWD trans by itself is incredibly strong, and will handle a good bit of abuse.

Anyone else wanna man up!?

Cool stuff here bud!

Just a comment on installing the motor... try connecting the trans to the motor and connect it to the crossmember... then put the hoist on the car (make sure the hoist is weighted down and rated for enough weight)... I use the crossmember mounting bolts... lift the car over the motor's height and slide the motor under the car (I use a dolly). Once positioned and the car is supported put the hoist on the engine and put a jack under the trans and up you go... then bolt it in and you're all set. It's a lot faster in the long run for total assy of the setup. Don't have to use it but just thought I'd through that out there for ya.

Keep up the good work!

Ha, thanks for the help and im sure i will be hittin you up for a little advice here and there. As far as what motor im going to be using, not real sure yet. Like to find a awd rb25 and sell this one but we'll see. Just happy i am finally making progress towards getting her back on the road.

Carl H.Awd swaps are not that much more expensive than rwd swaps. Take this in consideration, I got the awd transmission shipped to my front door or 450.00. The price of a rb25 swap with rwd transmission is what around 2500 still??? Then you can get rb20 or 25 for around a grand for just engine and harness with computer. You are already ahead of the game a G. Take that and go after xmember, and knuckles.

After that all it is is little ins and outs. But we all know those add up quick. But hey you still have those with rwd swap to. The main difference to me is the amount of fab work that goes into something like this. If you dont have the means to make one off stuff i would deff stay away. But i have access to a 10 bay garage with a lift, welding machines, torches, and you name we have it. To boot a dyno aswell for all my tuning needs.

But i do want to say i am not a proffesional fab worker, but i can get stuff done. I believe function before form anyday. Thats just me. I plan on documenting this swap very well to try and help other and so others can help me.

rbsileighty,Thanks for the tid bit of info. Will def help next go round, but for now i am still using stock xmember so i put her in to get some measurements for my mounts.

Anyways thanks for the support and more to come as soon as i can get some time.

Anytime! Good luck on the mounts... I made my mounts by measuring off of the stock crossmember engine mounts in relation to the chassis mounting bolts compared to the measurements of the motor mounted with the Skyline member... and then accounted for the distance the shifter was "off" when mounted with in the car with the Skyline mounts. Worked out very well... and this way you always have a single concrete reference location (the chassis bolts) from which you can make all of your measurements. Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Small update, I have mocked up my drive shaft. I have got to say that sometimes i cant believe how much stuff from nissan interchanges. I mean ive heard that the s14 is the r33's little brother but ****. Anyways here are some pics of what i am talking about.

Started with the front half of the stock drive shaft. After i got all my mounts made up and lined up i took a measurement and cut.

If your lucky your swap will come with the front yoke with the driveshaft cut off just short of the inner slip.

With a little careful cutting with a cutoff wheel you will end up with this.

After that it is just, slip it over inner sleeve and weld up. Mine is just tacked for now.

I know it is the not so great two piece shaft, but hey beats the crap out of spending 250-300 on a drive shaft that can made out the parts that you have laying around . Well thats it for now, i will have pics of the motor and trans mounts next. Enjoy

EDIT: what's with the cardboard paper inside the drive shaft? Sound deadner

Yeah it will be balanced, and i am also taking it to my local machine shop to level out the mating surfaces on both sides. I want it to be a true as possible.

Motor all cozy at home. Along with the disaster around it.

Couple pics of the motor mounts(driver side) passenger side its identical.

And for the transmission mounts.

I would have used thicker plate for the motor mounts that bolt to the k-member. Looks good though....kudos for custom parts

UPDATE: she lives.

Well just for a little bit. I was able to get it started yesterday. Sorry no vid. I got it to crank and run but it was very rough and didnt want to stay running. I guess you could expect that with no maf and all of the major vacumm lines unplugged But anyways after all the excitement( i was by myself) i quit and started to try and tiedy up some of the loose ends i have, wiring and such.

So i after that i went back just try one more time before i went home. I wired in a n60 maf according the the rbforms schematic and went to crank it. Well as you may suspect, no go. After a short bit of trouble shooting i found that i now have no spark. I have unhooked the maf and backtraced all of the wiring to no avail. Has anyone experienced something like this and would a reset of the ecu be wise. If so how do you properly do so. Thanks
