How many of you floored the EX35 ... pedal to the metal ?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Frankly, I have not floor the EX35 to the metal. Due to its raw power, it's just a situation that has not happened yet .. have you done it or not ???

There has not been a time sence i have had my ex that i have not floor'd it... no joke.

The lack of a limited slip combined with the computer nannies makes the EX pretty tame. I find full throttle acceleration above 60 to be slower than what I would have expected.

Early morning going to work, I always take the same route below:



I start from the bottom of the PIC to the top left. The last turn is the

hardest one bec. once you come out of the apex , the straightway is not

90 degress but it kinda bend down more like a boomerang. The fastest I

turn there is around 50-55 MPH and it`s kinda oversteer sometimes after

the apex.

I guess bec. I`m still driving the car with a winter booth and I normally

turn the VSC off.

This is a one way road that leads to a highway or airport express highway and connects to an Interstate 94 at the very end.

In the morning, you could hardly see cars travelling this road.



The fastest I drove to this airport express highway is aroung 125 MPH.

Great use of Google there Allan. I too would drive as fast as humanly possible on such a road if this magical place existed in my area.

I was driving a customers EX once and could not get this noise to duplicate until I went for a ride with him. We pulled out of the dealer and he proceeded to mash the throttle. To replicate the conditions I had his permission to drive it in the same manner. The problem was resolved and the long term shift logic had adapted to constant full throttle acceleration so the car was indeed pretty quick for what it is.

My shift logic is more then likely like this but is there any way to reset my ex's transmission logic and beat the hell out of the car in order to assure this?

Without having the ecu kill my Plus 2 ?

There is no way to adjust or reset those values. However; there is an electronic reset for the Longterm Fuel Trim in the ECM and that might have an effect on your shift logic. Disconnecting the battery may work but I doubt it. In the loaner cars at my dealer we frequently reset the self learning to try and make these cars drive slightly slower (IDK why all of our loaner G35s can break loose on the 1-2 shift).

The transmission control module will recognize lighter driving and adjust accordingly. It has a hard stored "economy" mode so light (<1/8) throttle input will incur short shifts and almost full TCC lockup at ~43mph.

After removing the negative battery cable, will our audio system needs a

code in order to reactivate? I remember Honda uses 5 digit codes in order

for the audio to work again when the battery or neg. has been removed.

MY 08 Toyota didn`t need one. I don`t recall any audio codes from my

Infiniti manual or paper work......

Nope no code. You will loose all your presets and maybe some other things stored in the audio system.

trip to Vegas, wanted to see how EX could handle at high speeds, went up around 125mph, it really got sealed to the ground, i felt i was driving semi-sports car such as BMW 3 coupe, and finally got scared to get a ticket, let the foot off the accelerator and did couple lane changes at around 110mph, i was happy i did not choose RX350. With firmer suspension, this car can run tracks without any problem.

I dont think it should give you anymore negative outcome from car being run at M mode all the time, unless you make the engine to go over redlines all the time or put in gear where has not enough torque to pull the car without haggling. Sometimes I drive in M mode and forget to push to 2nd gear, leting the car drive above 6k RPM for a while, faster RPM will make Engine to run hotter and give more resistance between piston and blocks causing wears, so runing high rpm all the time will kill the engine sooner than others driving normal.

I am not sure if you guys are familiar with the ECU setting in a 350Z and G35. Even you pedal to the metal, stock ECU is set to only open 90% of the throttle and will slowly closing at higher RPM.

I am pretty sure the EX is doing the same thing...Maybe a month later I will start messing around with ECU tuning and see what the EX is capable of!

Question doesn't make much sense... I've owned all manner of cars and I don't think there is a situtation where your average doesn't foor their cars on a weekly basis, unless it's the overly paranoid during the break-in period.

Everyone who floored this, does the engine accelerate in a smooth fashion, or did it rev high and then shift gears. What was the noise like? Did it feel like the engine was going to fall out?

Please explain. This is helpful.

I need to learn more about this. My car (AWD Journey) is getting unusually low fuel economy 23-24 on long highway stretches. I suspect its been abused during test drives and the fuel trim is set for overly aggressive driving. How do I do the electronic reset? Can my dealership do this?

Recently had overnight drive from San Francisco to Salt Lake City. There is nobody on 80 in Nevada at 3 am.

First, my AWD Journey maxes out at just under 145mph. But not even close to a redline. So, obviously, the speed nannies (who are in this case probably more than correct in doing so) don't really want the thing fully exercised.

Shifting was fine all the way up. No redline at any speed.

As others have said, acceleration above the speed limit is, let's say, not what I have seen on Formula 1 on TV. No other experience to base it on, but I note it's a lot harder to make 3500 lbs move 70 - 140 than 0 - 70.

The most surprising thing was how solid things felt at these high speeds (above 120). Handling was fine. MUCH less noise or vibration than you might expect. Even the sunroof wasn't too bad.

Only complaints (beyond the disappointment that I couldn't get to 150) were that a few grasshoppers (locusts) got in from the sunroof and that it turns out high speed further compromises 3G reception (already weak in the middle of nowhere) to point hat Pandora cut out on me in the middle of a fine Elvis tune.

All in all a fine time getting away from getting away from it all. I'll probably never do it again.
