For those on the market for radiators and fans I would say Mishimoto is a go. I use their S14 KA radiator on my LS6. Nice solid radiator, great welds, and clean fitment. I recently picked up their fan shroud with fans. I had the car out a bit yesterday and today and these fans are great. My ECU turns my fans on at 185 and my engine temp stays at 190 internally. At idle sitting at a light or idle I see 201-204 and this is where its been staying.

I am very impressed by how good these little fans cool. And it a uber clean fitment. Very thin and powerful.

Prior to this I had a Koyo S13 radiator, also very very nice and would recommend

Now is this the fan/radiator combo one with the nice shroud? I've been looking at those for a while seems like an amazing deal and a great fans solution for the s-chassis

Can't really see the fan shroud in the pics, I am assuming it covers most of the radiator? Suggested retail price for the shroud?

The shroud fits the radiator perfect, and has 2 fans on in both 10's.

They sell them as a combo with the radiator or separate. I got my Radiator 2 years ago and the fans like 1 month ago. A perfect slim fit.

They are cooling a radiator designed for a smaller engine and they are going great at it.

Yeah its still a tight squeeze in my car, but I paid 185 shipped off eghey. MSP is 225 I believe. The radiator MSRP is 300 but they can be had for like 210-225 shipped as well/

Yeah, I've picked up a few Mishimoto products for my car, and I'll tell you right now, it fits pretty much OEM. The Radiator just slips right in, and the quality of the items are pretty much top notch in my opinion.

If anyone is interested in getting some mishimoto products, I have a place I get all my parts from, probably the cheapest in the NYC/NJ area, if you're interested just E-Mail me at [email protected] and I'll pass over their number or address.

But yeah, very very nice parts.

you are out of your mind. how does your LSX have SO many overheating issues when nearly NONE of the others ive talked to/followed have?

i have had my mishimoto for nearly 2.5 years now and i beat the hell out of my car and have YET to even see the temps think of spiking. hasnt corroded/leaked/nothing.

your LS isnt THAT much of a monster so as to kill radiators/overheat so often. what BIGGER problem do you have that causes this? i mean you have added an extra heater core for christ's sake.

what is everyone else doing so right that you are doing so wrong.

their radiators dont suck, your setup does.

this isnt a personal attack, this is a real question. you cannot say a certain companies products are bad just cus your setup doesnt play well with them.

Speaking to the other LS1/LS guys they were running 190-215 on relativly stock motors. I was running 215-230, but no so stock.

Problems all came about when I did the top end work.Lower engine vacuum at idle, lower idle, higher compression and about 200 more RWHP over stock. The biggest issue was trapping heat, the headers were not coated, and my under hood temps were rapidly raising. Granted I could have cut some huge holes in the hood, but decided to hold the heat back, and apply more cooling. It never overheated, just ran too hot for my liking, but still well in the safe window according to GM which operating temp to them is 190-245, I saw 232 in dead of summer,

But those issues were solved with the new waterpump, oil cooler and ceramic coating / header wrap. I also ceramic coated my intake tubing.. The heater core is gone by the way. Temps range 190-210 which is lower the a stock F-Body car which runs 210-220 average. And that is with a 185 T stat, hopefully the 160 will shave some more.

I was hoping to keep it closer to 180-190. but 190-210 is good for now.

And the three radiators.

1- Bad out of the box, the welds were not sealed, and you could see into the core.

2 - The overflow nipple which is threded into the neck just fell off. Its only held by 5 thread turns at most.

3- So far so good, would like a 3 row, but its working.

Plus to make you feel better, it says made in China right on the box. I think they are an okay company, but you get what you pay for.

Yeah I've got a mishimoto, it's alright. I had the same problem with it leaking at the overflow nipple. It also had a small crack near the bottom that leaked coolant. Fixed that in my welding class, but it was a real bummer after putting it in. The only aftermarket piece in my brand new cooling system (waterpump, thermostat, hoses, radiator) failed. I was upset, but it was fixed and I moved on. I still like the mishimoto, it's very shiny. lolI still need to get the e-fans, however the stock shroud fits perfectly and the clutch fan works fine. And yeah the fitment of the radiator itself is perfect.

OutToWin- just wondering why you got the s14 version? Isn't the only difference which side the reservoir nipple is on? Looks like your overflow is still on the left.

mrgreegeyes- why are you defending ths product so much? Do you work for them? You make it sound like Mishimoto is top of the line. It isn't though. It's pretty much the cheapest aftermarket radiator availible for our cars. lol

no, cx racing is the bottom of the barrel.

i was honestly unaware of ANYONE having issues with mishi's leaking on them.

mine has been 100% since day one. a local guy runs a 750whp sr20 with mishi rad and intercooler... has been for over 5 years. not one problem or leak.

and you guys complaining about a threaded fitting leaking? put some threadsealer tape on it. done. and you saved $X00 vs a koyo.

ill defend them cus mines worked great. keeps things super cool, with only a single oem efan (dohc variant)

Yeah, I knew about the cxracing. I refuse to even speak of such products though, pure rubbish.

I honestly haven't heard any bad things about Mishimoto products either, I was just unsatisfied with the condition of mine when I first used it. The crack was definitely a big problem, leaking at the overflow nipple not so much. Easy fix but a problem none the less, and I really hope OutToWin didn't replace his second rad for that sole reason.

I have no doubt that they work great, and I'm sure mine will be just fine for a long time. I bet OutToWin and I aren't the only ones having problems with these rads though.

And you're only using the stock a/c fan? Wow. I might do that.

So what should an s13 owner buy? a Koyo or a Mishimoto? And are the fan shrouds really that necessary?

The second rad was replaced under warranty. It cam out I thread taped it, it came out again, I taped it more. it came out a third time and I called them up and said no BS, send me a new one because this nipple keeps working its way out and the 5 lonely threads are stripping away.

I remember watching your video on you tube outtowinpahc. And when you started revving the car the radiator was moving up and down.

I always wondered what does outtowinpahc mean?

In the video my core support was zip tied on, the it was a S13 koyo rod, and nothing held it in, so it jumped when the water pump spun more or less.

lol, this new one with less then 1.5 hours of use is leaking from where the filler neck is attacked to the top tank......

Warranty claim, again. I might just take it to one of the local fabricators and have it tig welded.

mines still going strong

I got the fan shroud and radiator combo and the only thing i did not like is the fact that the fans slid back and forth freely and it nicked the radiator but that was fixed and no problems since.

lol @ this thread.

CXRacing racing radiator and Mishimoto radiator are exactly the same.

I'm going to sell my CXRacing rad as a Mishimoto by putting a sticker on the rad cap.

It cooled my 25PSI car for a year, actually had overcooling issues.

OutToWin - why did you take out your Koyo for a Mishimoto? Also what kind of temps were you seeing with the Koyo radiator?

i'm shopping for a new radiator and i'm looking for something that works flawless, thinkin maybe Griffen?
