Hi, My girlfriend has an 03 maxima with the bose system and we want to upgrade the head unit. Would like to order the stuff tonight and I wanted to see if I have everything in order. We have picked out

the Panasonic cq-vw100u double din bypass override kit, PAC steering wheel control adapterantenna adapterwire harness

the big question i have is with the mounting kit, will this kit leave a gap still? http://www.installer.com/item/...1648B

or should we go with this kithttp://www.installer.com/item/...1494B

Thanks for your help, we love this car, it's so much fun to drive!

curious, was the radio not working before? cause if it wasnt the factory amp could be bad. in that case you would have to bypass the amp.

Get the second one. The first one is a pain in the a** because you have to redrill the factory brackets.

Everything works fine, she just got her taxes back today and we'd been talking about doing a system for a while since we use her car when we go out of town. So we're going to start off with a indash dvd player, and she demands it's double din because of the look. and I don't blame her, they are pretty sweet. This is the same unit I plan to put in my truck .

I would do the re drill. the second one just looks cheap.

Or you can spend a lot more extra for this piece.http://www.courtesyparts.com/6..._5835&

damn, that's a pretty penny!

As far as re-drilling on the 1st kit, do you mean re-drill the bracket that connects to the head unit? or the brackets that go to the car? Is there a thread that shows anyone else doing this? or if not I'd take a few pics for others when I do it. I don't want it to look cheap, so i'll have to put in the work and re drill. Thanks again.

The it will work fine with the Nissan, and seeing as it's essentially a learning remote it should work fine with the Panasonic deck.

Here are the instructions off PAC's website. http://www.pac-audio.com/swixp...D=261

Hi guys, so just an update and quick question. The dvd player is herethe steering wheel adapterand the ipod cable

still waiting on thebypass and mounting kit/wire harness

My girlfriend was getting too excited to play with it, so today I hooked it up in my f150, since i am going to get the same one soon it was also nice to see how it sounded with my set up, and wow what a difference.!

My set up is- Eclipse mp3 player with 5volt preout, eclipse 5x7 front/back, 2 kendwood 10's under rear seat in downfiring box and an older power acoustic 2200 watt amp for the subs, no amp yet on door spearkers.

The panasonic has a mono sub rca, so I need to grab a y connector later so I can hear both subs, but as is, with 1 sub, it's way better than the eclipse head unit, sounds great, way louder as well. The head unit has a nice set up, easy controls, great looking picture. She doesn't know it's hooked up yet, so when she gets home at 5 im going to surprise her, lol. I don't have it mounted in my truck, only sitting in the open area under my headunit when the trim is removed, it woulda been a very quick install in my truck but when I went to unscrew the 6mm bolts holding the eclipse in, the tabs started to break off! so now I lost 1 tab and I didn't want to risk the others, not sure if it's because it's like 11f and -20 last night, or what. When I get the dvd player for myself i'll pick up a new mounting kit, so no biggie.

Regarding the video bypass modual, I don't think i need it, I just grounded the parking brake wire and I was able to play dvd's and Ipod video while crusing, and I went for like a 30 min cruise and it never shut off, so I think I can return the by pass? save us like 50 bucks? any one know if I'm good to go with that?

Now she wants me to put the PS2 in there since we dont' use it, I was looking at the xo-400 power inverter and game port on ebay for like 40 bucks. Anyone used it? I'm not sure where to put the ps2 yet? and she wants headrest monitors eventually, those seem pretty easy to install. I read a nice write up somewhere. Seemed straight forward.

I may have messed up. I might have ordered the wrong wire harness. I ordered metra -70-7550and I think i should have orderd 70-7551 so that it sounds better and has the rcas, dammit! She is not going to be happy about that lol.

I picked up the new wire harness at a local shop. Doing the install right now.Didn't need the video bypass, just growned it.

I have the steering wheel controls swi hooked partialy up, and I need to connect the white wire to the vehicles interface it says.. What wire is that? And am i suppose to cut the brown from that harness and ground it? or do I connect those togheather? and do i cut the brown loop on the pac harness?

Thanks for your help!

picked up the resistors, mounted the head unit, and just have the console part off now, just trying to program the pac unit... it's a b****, and i'm kinda confused. I am going to go try it again. we have the swi-x, and the panasonic deck didn't come with a remote, so I hope that step is not a "must" that we need a remote....... any one know?

Unfortunately you do need the remote. best bet might be ebay or something like that. I'll point Broadfield this way in case he might be able to help you as well.

thank you so much, I woulda turned programming that thing into a part time job! I've been out there all day trying to figure it out lol. Thanks again, I'll get on ebay and order that...

So we do have the problem with it not being very loud. Was going to get line drivers, but I convinced her to get new speakers front/rear, get rid of this damn bose stuff..sell the whole bose set up at once.. and then put in subs.

I'll post pics of the sorta complete progress. Thanks again

Unfortunately I am not a Panasonic dealer..... but Nick700r if you go to a local Panasonic dealer you may be able to sweet talk them into letting you borrow the remote for a short time.

i'll see what i can do, we only have 1 shop in town and I don't know if they carry panasonic. I haven't been able to find the remote on ebay, or online. I found a # for panasonic to get parts. Might have to call them. I'll check with that stereo shop tomarrow . Thanks for your help.

Ok, so I still haven't located a remote, but that is the least of my problems right now.

Well as most others the sound sucks with this bose speakers/panasonic head unit combo. So we just ordered her new door speakers, JL 5 1/4 VR525-CXi for the rear and JL AUDIO TR650-CSI 6.5" for the front.

But now i'm confused. what do I do about wiring?, I was looking at the bose amp plug and I'm confused on the signal. Do I have to add an amp? We intended to power the door speakers with the head unit only.

I see speaker wires coming out of the amp, but when I eliminate the bose amp, what do I plug those wires into? which of the wires are output from the head unit? do I just splice a few wires into each other, or do I need to run all new wires for the speakers.

Thanks!

The FSM will give you all of the colors in and out of the bose amp.

ok, so the front speaker came today, so I took all the door speakers out, cut the housing to fit the JL depth, mounted the door speakers, and did the amp wire harness, i did the speakers, but do I also have to do a power source and ground? Because now I'm not getting power to the deck. IS it all ran through the bose amp even for the head unit?

also the alarm beep doesn't sound when you lock it via the remote....I checked all the under dash fuses and they were ok, do you think it's a relay fuse under the hood? i see there are 3 horn fuses, 2 blue and 1 black....... Not sure what to do, can't get any power to the deck...any ideas?

Anyone have any ideas? I went to the parts store and they don't carry the relay, so in order to get them I need to find a nissan dealer, which would be like 100 miles away, or online. But does anyone know if the horn relay would cause the alarm beep and the head unit to quit working? Or was I suppose to leave some of the bose amp wires connected to the amp/harness, or connect other wires togeather like power/ground. The only wires I did anything with were the front/rear speakers....

There is a fuse block under that hood and I know there is a fuse in there that goes to the radio.

I'm glad this is my girlfriends car, I don't ever want a vehicle with bose in it! lol, geesh, they make it as hard as possible on purpose I think,

They should make a plug and play amp elimination harness that crosses the appropriate wires and elimitates the others for you... If they do already point me that way! lol ..

Ok, so i have the diagram, but I can't seem to get the order 100% because I'm fading back left and it's coming out of back right. and back right is from the left. Front right is quiet and front left is nothing. lol . I'll get this one day.I cut the whole harness off and then found out there are like 3 blacks and 2 whites and 2 browns so i'm having a hard time upside down in the trunk matching up the right ones...

You just hook up the input +(pos) to the out put +(pos) and the same for -(neg) . correct? Input -(neg) to output -(neg)

Would someone mind proof reading what I came up with from the diagram?

#'s are for plug holes./then positive or neg/ then wire color and then what it's connected to.

Front Left Input= 33/+/white 20/-/blacktooutput= 30/+/blue&white 31/-/blue w/green stripe

Front RightInput= 35/+/green 22/-/redto tooutput= 28/+/brown w/pink dot 29/-/brown w/ white stripe

Rear LeftInput= 34/+/brown 21/-/black w/ yellow stripeto tooutput= 18/+/ green w/pink dot 17/-/black/ red stripe

Rear Right Input= 36/+/blue w/ purple dot 23/-/pinkto toOutput= 41/+/solid blue 42/-/black w/ white stripe

Dont use-YellowGreen w/ white stripe1 white1 black1 black w/ pink dot

It has to be wrong some where if i'm opposite fading....damn, it's 2am, i need to hit the hay and dream about this... thanks for the help guys.
