said it had cut and folded fenders, so when the car is lowered and has wheels with a sick offset with the overfenders put on. the tire won't rub the original fendersUNVMY240 wrote:My god that car is sky high.... what does it have? Good luck with the project, looking forward to reading your build.
The mounting points should be okay for SCCA and NASA. The mounting plates, however, look kind of shoddy.chixwithtrix wrote:which portion of the back seat and why?
I was told the cage should be spec, but I definitely kept my mind open that it might not be and would have to change it. Meh, I'll deal with it when I can. I just need to know what exactly is wrong and where it should be mounted...
Hmm, looks good, but what I find interesting is that I don't see a lot of consensus on where to weld in the cage. Example: a friend of mine who competes on a professional drifting level has the cage welded in on the seat section similar to where mine is... here is the photo of it: http://i10.photobucket.com/alb...2.jpgSteve Lloyd wrote:should look more like this........... Welded to 6"x6" plates on the floor.
As I mentioned in the 1st post I picked this up to build it right from the ground. My RB S13 chassis is a good car, but it started life with ABS and Hicas (which both have been deleted) and has 280,000 miles on the chassis. Instead of taking the RB out to stitch weld and paint the bay, replacing the abs hardlines, buy a full cage, beef it up, strip and repaint I decided I'd pick up this shell - build it right - and swap everything from the black S13 to this shell once it is all prepped.hbpignosePA wrote:i havent checked your other thread but was there a reason you got a new shell?just another project or are you swappin the rb over? how much did you pay if you dont mind sharing?
right there homieca18detgabby wrote:like the gold......... looks sweet.
I will probably be putting a cage in my S13 soon. just waiting on step dad to bend the piping.........
should be another sweet build, dare I ask why it says "bus" on the side?
chixwithtrix wrote:So...Project Bus Parking? Yeah...last night some friends and I were at an IHOP at 1am and there was no parking for the truck and trailer except for a bus parking spot. So a buddy decides to get some duct tape (originally wanted to spray paint it on) and put 'BUS' on the side of the car. At the time it was hilarious and I dubbed the project "Bus Parking"...good times, now for the pics!

Yeah, I didn't figure it would matter where it was mounted as long as the tubing, etc was up to spec. Who was it at what event that told you to move your cage mount points Steve?mattblancarte wrote:Yep. Mine's identical to that, trix, and I've been told it's plenty fine. I read the SCCA rules and they mention that it just needs to be six points in the passenger compartment. Nothing specific about where inside the compartment....
