I'm sure there's already one of these in the Z forum, but I thought I'd post one out here for people who don't own a Z but might be interested in this most recent model:

This is OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL. Not a magazine render, not a guess, not speculation. This is THE car, and this information is coming straight from Nissan.

Here's a link to the autoblog article:

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/1...ebut/

Personally I think it's sort of ugly. I much prefer the current Z33. I assume this will be called the Z34?

It sort of seems like a 280zx to me, sort of overdone in all the wrong places, but that's just my opinion. I'm sure it'll be plenty fast and fun though.

EDIT: ...and here's how you can see it in person before most of the country does: zer...ement

i would change the wheels (thats easy though) and ditch the headlights and tails as well as the front bumper entirely.

i thought from the early renders nissan was making hte car look more retro, kind of bringing back design cues from the original and best-looking z cars. this is obviously not the case. whats the point of even having that quarter window? it looks like a last-minute hackjob to me for some reason.

i can appreciate the shorter wheelbase from the performance perspective, how about the weight? will it drop significantly to help the vq move the car around better?

nissan made the wheel arches soooooo ugly with that giant flat lips to accentuate the wheel gap. its not HORRIBLE but still far from what i would have expected given the time frame they had to work with.

I have a feeling that this is a car that will look better heavily modified than close to stock.

I feel the reverse about the Z33, I tend to think that aero and whatnot screws it up and that all it needs is wheels and some slammage.

I could see the 370Z looking very aggressive with a lot of aero and crap tacked onto it, but I'm not digging it stock at all.

People better run out and grab those last few Nismo Z33's. I wish I was in the market, I <3 those cars.

Hate the lights in the back.Don't really like the lights in the front.

HOWEVER, the rest of the car looks better than the soft, bubbly 350Z.

Lose 300 pounds and we'll talk, baby!

Why does every car company do this now? I mean really.

IMO it could be worse, but it could be better too.

the angle of the first picture looks a lot like the lines of an S30. I like it, slammed with good wheels and a bit of aero I could see it looking rather tasteful.

Why does it look like its giving me a japanimation style wink/blink, kinda like DBZ or speed racer?

and:

Hopefully they have some better color options than that.I actually don't mind the cut off, straight wheel arches as much on this car as I do on others. Overall it looks decent, but god damn, those headlights/tail lights are fecal.

I like how the front and quarter windows look similar to the 240z.The rest I don't like, the taillights are ugly, the front is ugly, looks moderately good from the side.

Why Nissan!!!!

Looks like I'm in the minority here, but that thing looks good! I never liked the side of the front bumper on the Z33 and this is MUCH better. The rear quarter panel looks like a Z4 coupe in my eyes. I love the wide fenders but dislike the flat rim around the wheel wells.

That rear quarter window is kinda funky looking too...

I don't understand a lot of you people when it comes to new car styling. I really like this new 370. Looks more like a 280Z than the 280zx. It's much more rounded than the boxy zx. The wheel arches don't attract that much attention from the eye. The interior is a little busy and the tail lights could be better, but apart from that, I'd hit it.

I know the surprise!!! I'm not telling

Before I make any more judgement on the car, I need to see it doing a brake stand or blowing it sideways or doing donuts or something. I also want to see it in another color. Why is silver so damn popular these days?

I like it a lot from some angles and it's meh from others.

The headlights, rockers, and bumper opening are all terrible from any angle, though.

I also dislike the GTR-style sharpened windshield/roof convergence. And I'm not sure about the new quarter glass.

The rear looks fantastic, though. I even kind of like the tail lights. But the hatch spoiler.

I think it's safe to say this is the new "corporate face" of Nissan. It's pretty much exactly what Nissan did in 2003/2004 with the current look, except that that time the Z was first.

I think it looks great and will make a great competition for the Cayman (may be even the cayman S).

Interior is a huge improvement. More power and lighter, Nissan is finally paying attention to their little sports car.

I will be in LA for the LA car show, I can't wait to get a closer look.

God I want to stab whoever came up with that brand recognition thing. Why does everything have to look like a smaller/larger/2 door version of every other car in the lineup? Its like, instead of buying a model, you are now buying JUST a brand.

I think it looks okay, but in their quest to make it look different from the 350z, they made it pretty jagged around the edges. Quite literally, where the quarter panel and front fenders match up to the car's lights looks really bad. Meh. It has my curiosity piqued at least.

it looks the same as those new generation 240sx 280 sx things postea few months ago...but not orange.

........its ok I guess. Probably the whole "lookes SO MUCH BETTER in person" type-thing.

Lets just hope the normal manual transmission is used instead of tiptronic, CVT stuff. (Yeah I know its a dream)

Something tells me it will be offered in a manual. The only cars they eliminate the manual from are the ones that sold barely any manuals (less than 10% ish). I don't think the 350 falls into that category. We'll see though, you never know what car companies are thinking these days...

Me too.

I think mchedaddi needs to Photochop it with some 20" Watanabe's, fender mirrors, and some Datsun striping.

Where is he anyway?
