fuel pump replacement question

i have done extensive searching and found no help. I am going to replace my pump soon ,and when i changed the one in my buddy's 89, we just put in a airtex replacement, and the (relief hose?) little pink hose that is ziptied to the pump that goes from the top of the pump to just below it ,didn't seem needed because the port on the new pump where it goes seemed to not be open. My pump is an brand new oem pump ( bosch reboxes the one i got from nissan. It says jecs and has a nissan logo on the side) and i would assume that (relief hose?) is still needed. Any input and also it seemed like it didn't want to come off the old pump on the 89.

doesn't show it or mention it from what i read . I am not putting in an aftermarket pump either it's new oem so i am still concerned about that piece.

I Just replaced my oem fuel pump with a walbro last night. I used this thread as a reference , hope it helps you.

will try to get some from buddys pump that was replaced last week. I haven't pulled mine yet and that hose i am referring to may only be on sohc? Once he gets me pics ill post them so you have a better idea of what i am referring to as i have not seen it in any of the pics on the writeups. Maybe i don't need it but his pump was a oem so idk.

bump for input. In all the writeups and pics iv'e seen this hose was never shown.

Dont worry about it, if your replacement pump doesn't have a port on top, some pumps have the pink hose relief and some pumps just have a port on the bottom of the fuel pump.
