I decided to get engaged this weekend!Sent my girlfriend on a treasure hunt all over town, with prizes (pandora bracelet charms) and clues all along the way. (cryptic clues, dvd video clues)

Eventually got to dinner, and had a top shelf meal at a Thai restaraunt on the beach.

Then went for a walk along the beach afterwards to have some wine, but I never popped the bottle. I popped the question instead.I used this video to do the asking for me.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u3L6-dt728

The day as it was, in her own words......

"So… I started out the day with butterflies in my stomach, because I knew this so called “surprise” was coming for about 2 months! Andy kissed me goodbye and told me that he would see me tonight, and he left, handing me only a DVD.

I chucked it in the player, and watched. It was going to be a treasure hunt! My first clue was under the alarm clock. Once I worked it out I was off to the Fox Creek Winery! I was surprised that when I got there, I was greeted with “oh, hello Cath”! After I got over the fact that someone knew my name… I went into the cellar door and had a few courage wines. Sasha the wine lady then handed me 2 bottles of premium wine, along with me next clue. In the envelope I found 2 more charms for my charm bracelet, and a clue pointing me in the direction of our local butcher.

As many of you probably know, I was the lucky recipient of a meat tray on Valentines Day (I’m sure you all saw the post on NICO)… so this next clue was very appropriate! I walked in, and the butcher said to all 15 of his customers…”This is the girl I was talking about”. All of the customers then proceeded to say “oooooohhhhhhhhh”. It was incredibly embarrassing to then see my pictures stuck on the glass in the butcher shop! I was then handed a bag of assorted meats, a clue (More charms) and a message to go home and store the wine and meat.

After I put everything away, my room mate gave me another DVD, and an envelope. The next DVD told me to take $100.00 which was in the envelope… and go pick up my best friend, take her out for lunch, and buy something nice to wear that night. We had a great time… I found a little white dress, and some perfume. After that, my best mate Kim took me down to mine and Andy’s favourite beach.

As we were sitting there watching the beautiful waves, she gave me my next envelope, telling me to go to my parents place, and there were also 2 more charms in the envelope. As you can imagine, my wrist was getting a little heavy at this point! So I dropped Kim off home, and went over to my parents place.

My Mum and Dad were away on holiday, so I let myself in and found my next clue. More charms, and a clue telling me to go to his parents place, with everything I would need to go out that night. I picked up my new dress and some makeup and went over. There I sat for a couple of hours drinking wine with his Mum, and chatting with his Dad, until it was time to get ready to go.

I got all dolled up, and then hopped in my ride… a Jag! Then I was driven down to a little restaurant in Port Noarlunga… right near the beach. I found Andy waiting there for me. We had a beautiful dinner, and then decided to drink some of the wine that I had received that day, down at the beach.

When we got down to a nice spot, we sat down and decided that maybe we were too full from tea to have a drink. But Andy handed me my last clue. It was a DVD. I said “How am I going to watch it down here”? So he pulled out my laptop, and we started to watch. It was a beautiful slideshow of pictures of us to some of my favourite music (Paul McCartney – Maybe I’m amazed). When it got to then end, there was one of my shots of my favourite beach, and it said “Cathy, I love you with all of my heart and soul”… The next slide said “Please give me the honour of being your husband… will you Marry me”? Then I looked at Andy, and said through all the tears “Really”? And he pulled out the most beautiful ring I have ever seen! And I don’t think he could speak, so he just nodded. And then I said “Of course I will”! He put the ring on my finger, and I don’t think we let go of each other for about 5 minutes!

When I got the feeling back in my legs, we walked off the back again. It was the most perfect day I could ever ask for, and he is the most perfect future husband any woman could ever wish for.

A HUGE thanks to Nicholas Chopp for helping out with the slideshow. It just wouldn’t have been the same without it. So thanks for helping make yesterday such an amazing day. And congratulations on your own engagement to the beautiful Hillary.

Thanks NICO guys and gals.

X x x Cathy."

PS: Cliff-notes at the top, so don't tl;dr me!

Thanks guys.....

As for the tips you are after..... I am not sure I am the right guy to ask!Just be a little creative, always be yourself, and make sure the lady knows how much you love her.

If you are being yourself, and the lady in question seems to be disinterested, turned-off etc.... then she isn't the one.Imagine how hard it would be to pretend to be something you aren't, for the rest of your life!I am definitely a happy camper, and didn't expect such a positive response from this forum! In fact, I thought the title of the thread would have driven people away in droves!

When the video played on the beach, I got a bit teary myself...... I mean, I knew what it did to me.... so I just hoped it had the same effect on her.
