  Scratch Shield really work?

Are there any actual examples showing Scratch Shield really works?

What types of scratches does it heal - swirl marks, fine lines, rock chips?

What are the limitations?

Does the mark actually disappear or can you still see a shadow of damage?

Can you still detail the car with a random orbital buffer and cutting pads using swirl removing solutions?

the scratch shield paint is an awesome feature. It only completely fixes the scratch if it is only in the clear coat, if it goes through to the paint, you will still see the scratch, but you will not feel it. Ideally, if you see a scratch, let the car sit in the sun for a couple of hours every day until the scratch is gone. It could take up to 2 weeks or so. As for detailing, I'm not sure... I can get back to you on that. I dont think our detail department uses a buffer on this paint.

New to the site, but not new to the product.. I've been selling Infiniti's since October 2007.

What would be neat, is if someone could some time-lapse photography on a Scratch in the Heat of the Day.

I heard its like regenerative armor. So take your key and scratch away and wait a few days to see what happens....

I am an Automotive Paint Technician of 30 years and this is new technology that I am interested in seeing , as I work at a GMC, Cadillac, Buick , Pontiac dealership , and am constantly buffing minor scratches out for customers .

It is only supposed to re-flow out minor scratches that are not through the clear coat finish .

I remember when GM came out with their chipless paint on their S-10 pick-ups , their TV add showed thousands of small ball bearings dropping on the hood with out a scratch , well they are smooth , unlike a jagged rock spit out by a tire at highway speeds , I sure re-painted a ton of S-10 front ends under warranty because it :O

They quit that advertising quick when it cost them millions of dollars in warranty repaints nation wide .

I am sorry to report that scratch shield does not work as advertised - at least for me so far. I scratched the right front fender area - kind of a very light road rash scratch. It did not pentrate through the clear coat. I took pics of the scratch and have been taking them every three days. A week later and I can discern no improvement in the affected area. It has been cold here so I'm waiting until the exposed area has a chance to warm up more. I'll post all pics when I have waited a total of two weeks.

RC... you guys in California should be capable of getting some Heat into that Paint.

Could you give your Car some good heat before calling it a failure ?

Up here in Alberta Canada, we have our Hot Days too, but they are not for long durations like you might have.

It'll be in the 90's and 100's for maybe a Month... and then we are done ! Summer is over.

So we're going to make our scratches being repaired between July 10th and July 30th since that approximatly our summer duration here in Quebec.
Just kiddin' but last week when I was looking to some EX35's in my dealer backyard I remarked a fine scratch on a black EX35. I mean fine enough to make it auto-repaired based on what my dealer said. He said the process could take up to 2 weeks of warm weather,

We had an "under normal weather" May here so maybe it's not warm enough.

Anyway I did not buy my EX35 for that doubtful feature...

I'm giving it the benefit of a doubt and waiting another full week. We're supposed to have high 70s temperatures all this week. Let's see what happens. So far I am underwhelmed. I could very easily wet sand these scuff marks and buff them out by hand but I'm really curious to see if this miracle paint is going to work its magic.

Apparently the scratch shield is beginning to work here are two pics. The first is the scuff on the first day. The second is the scuff 6 days later. Clearly the scuff is beginning to disappear. The scratches were made by a swinging wood door and did not penetrate through the clear coat. I expect over time even the dense scratches will go away. I'll keep posting and let you know:

Heck, if hot weather makes the paint softer...

I might come out one day to see a pool of paint sitting on the ground below my car.
