It finally happened, I finally got my S14 up on the dyno. I was hoping for somewhere between 200 and 230 RWHP, but I was pleasantly surprised by the results.

I will let the pictures do the talking.

I made three runs on the Dyno Dynamics Dynamometer at DB Performance in Rogers MN. The car was running exceptionally well, and the ambient air temperature was about 55 degrees.

They pulled the car in fourth gear, due to my factory speed limiter everything drops off at 6800 RPM.

The first graph shows horsepower vs. torque, the second shows horsepower vs. manifold pressure, and the third shows horsepower vs. air fuel ratio.

This is all three next to each other for reference.

The first run I only made about 244 RWHP, but the second two runs I made 251.4 RWHP and 250 lb ft of torque. I'm super please with these numbers, and I was impressed by how broad my torque curve is.

I made a maximum of 13 PSI at 3400 RPM which creeped down to 10 PSI, due to the T25 running out of breath.

One thing I noticed, my AFRs are a little lean below 3000 RPM.

Current mod list.

Those are fantastic numbers for a t25 on a dyno dynamics

WITH THAT SAID however

You are more than likely maxig out both MAF and injectors. While not super powre, you are in the 13ish AFR throughout the entire torque 'sweet spot', which is a bit high.

Do you have a Blazt Cable by chance?

my MAF and injectors are pretty maxed out...you dont want to anywhere over 80% duty, IIRC. IS this correct

80% duty cycle applies to 80`s cadilacs when fuel injection was first used, id say stay under 90 would be a safe bet.

Those nunbers are awesome man, if I had those numbers at the same boost, with a t28 I would be happy.

Those are some really good numbers. Especially with very minor mods on your car too.

Man I really need to go dyno my car. The last time my car didn't have a oil catch can and there was oil in my intake pipe and intercooler. So obviously my car was burning oil.

when I got mine done the first time, I almost didnt believe the numbers...Then I had it done at another buddies shop on a different kind of dyno and the number were within 4 horse and 8 fr/lbs. I work at a bike shop and we have a dyno, you can inflate numbers to make people really happy, lol. Making sure this wasnt the case with my SR.

Im actually very please with the results, I beat out a 350Z, two G35 coupes, and a sedan.

I know damn well I am pushing the limit. My boost gauge is slightly inaccurate, according to it I only make 10 PSI, I am planning on turning the boost down slightly, 13 is a little high for daily driving. Its been that way for over a year, I fell a little uneasy knowing its been that way so long.

Currently my knock sensor is not attached to the block, I think the ECU is running a little on the lean side in the low revs as a result.

I have no way of reading the consult port, though I have been meaning to get something to do so.

My next upgrade will be injectors and a MAFS, followed by a turbo.

Im not sure what turbo I want quite yet. All the dyno graphs of cars with T28s dont have as nice of a torque curve, though that may be poor tuning and a lack of supporting mods.

My goals differ greatly from most 240SX owners, I have no urge to make huge power numbers. I want to keep my power more midrange, a small turbo will produce better torque, Im also on the lookout for an intake manifold with a large plenum that retains long runner length. Im wondering if a hybrid T25/T28 matched with a custom plenum on ported factory runners, might suite my goals.

uh oh.. inaccurate guages. What type are you using by the way. I'm in the market for some and need to know which ones to stay away from.

Check for crinks in the line etc etc

Look into my thread....perfect response. Only other response oriented turbo I'd suggest is possible a 28RS, but I still like the 2871 more.

If you're looking for a great 'cheap' mod, look into scoring a 4.40 vlsd for your car off of ebay or the sorts...what a great difference they make!

I am impressed. I never thought the SR would respond so well to minor mods. Makes me even more excited to get my project started. Congratulations

Funny that you say that, Im in the market for a new diff, one of the bearings is shot, probubly pinion, and Ive been meaning to rebuild. What did the 4.40 come in stock? Also, what are your RPMs like at cruising with the 4.40?

so how would a 4.40 final drive differ from my j30 3.96. Will it be a later powerband? While its on 4 gear I start boost at 2000? If I full throttle at 1500 and see full boost 7 psi at 2500-2800 with a 16.0-15.7 afr.

Dude they are gears...have you never geared anything...streetbike, mustang, nothing. The higher the number of the gear (i.e. 4.40) the shorter and quicker the gear becomes. This equals higher RPM on the highway, but a much more agressive powerband down low with less up top.

Plug in your info, and you'll get what you need.

I have 4.60's in my car (well, 4.40 something effective, after tire/wheel change) and LOVE them.
