This is awesome work man. I plan to do this with my car and I was wondering what you are using to find all the parts you need?Is it a catalog or the internet or what?

I know a little off topic with this thread because this is an S13 car your working on - but I just went to the website posted above and had a quick question someone who would be viewing this might know - The nismo coilover setup - isn't it just JIC with nismo slapped on it?

really good job man but you should as much as possible avoid continuous welding beads... you should rather use plug welds and seal the edges of your pieces welded on.... you should also gring a little bit your welds to avoid moisture to stay in all the crevasses of the welds/porosity.... as for the parte you took off from where the front seat was bolted to, you really should replace these because they serve a purpose of spreading the impact load in case of an accident instead of the bolt tearing the surrounding metal

thanks for the tips man. the only reason i'm not overlapping the metal and doing plug welds is because i'm trying to avoid the seams rusting between the 2 layers of metal again. and trust me, those seat mounting braces will be replaced with 16 gauge plates on both sides. the only real big things i have left to do is fab up my patches for the frame rail sections, seat mounts, and door hinge mounts, and that will basically be it. i already have the sheet metal cut out and bent, i just have to trim everything down for fitment and weld everything up. thanks for the comments

i got the motor from heavy throttle back when they still sold rb's. they actually sold me their last rb25 back in '05 because they were having problems with their shipper receiving the motorsets with rb20 trannys mounted (i had to wait like 2-3 months before they got a good one with a rb25 trans). thanks to jeff over there, he hooked me up with some free AN turbo coolant lines.

Hey man, been following this thread for awhile now, and definitely have to give you some major prop-age(not a word) for your dedication, passion and hard work. I almost feel the need to start a donation to get you some heating in the garage so you can work it out during the winter as well. I, along with everyone else on this forum is anxiously waiting on the conclusion of this rebuild, so please don't give up!! Some magazine should do a interview on you I swear. But either way, if your garage is anywhere near the city, I'd love to come by one day with some of my friends, just to admire the hard work and see if we can squeeze some advices out of you, and see if we can help out or anything. peace. I'll be patiently waiting for your next update!!

i said i wanted to get a 240 and build from ground up but is it possible for me find one this old without the massive rusting? i figured that his 240 was exposed to way different elements than we see here in the south so that could have contributed big time to his rust problems

yes it should be possible you live in texas its hot and dry there, if you lived where I do we pay a premium for a rust free 240 everything over 10 years old around here starts turning into a rust bucket unless its garage kept

A lot of texas isn't really that dry. Arizona is probably one of the best states to find rust free shells sitting in it.
