As the original buyer of my '03 M45, I knew to wait until just before 30,000 miles and just days before the standard warranty expired to buy the Elite extended warranty. My standard warranty was up in Sept. '07 and at 29,800 miles, so I bought the Infiniti Elite $100 deductible 60 month, 60,000 miles extension Elite which takes me to 2012 and 89,800 miles, which ever comes first. The clue to this was to buy before 30,000 miles and just short of the anniversary date of your car. The sales contract that was issued by my dealer and then sent offically by Infiniti, states in writing the 60month/89,800 miles to 2012 in the contract. Since I'm not a high mileage driver on the M45( my other autos get the mileage), I don't expect to exceed the time/mileage period. My cost negotiated at the time in Sept. '07 was $1359. You need to make friendly alliances during the years before your standard warranty expires with the sales manager, the service adviser(pick one and stick with him), and get to know the finance officer too. He's the one you negotiate with. I'm the type that normally would not buy an extended warranty, but due to the complex electronics on the M, I felt this was the prudent thing to due. Thinking that you might need to take out a bank loan to just replace the monitor that controls evrything from the radio to the A/C plus much more, was enough to convince me.
