What's up Gents, This morning I went ou t start my car and it just cranked. It tries to turn over, but it just won;t. I thought it was out of gas because the low fuel came on while I was driving home. I put 1 1/2 gallons of fuel in the tank and it still doesn't turn over. Should I try more gas? Can anyone help me? thanks to all

Why not just call Nationwide Infiniti in timonium to pick it up with a flatbed truck and take back to their shop for diagnosis and repair?

How many miles on the Q? Has the fuel pump and fuel pump control unit been replaced yet?

With no maintenance history, Qship96 has the best idea.

agreed... all we know is that the car wont start...

I would certainly check fuel pressure. Did you ever hear a "buzzing" sound from behind the rear seat, mainly at idle? Fuel pump is very suspect unless its been replaced recently (within the last 50k miles)

So, if it cranked, it turned over. But, if it tries, but just won't, then I guess it doesn't turn over. I'm confused.

If the engine rotates (spins) when you engage the starter, then the guys are right - check the fuel pressure.

If the engine doesn't rotate - dead battery, dead starter motor or solenoid, or leaking fuel injector causing the affected cylinder to hydrolock.

If it's hydrolocked, it'll likely start in the morning (fuel will have seeped past the rings freeing the engine). The injector will need to be addressed and oil changed.

Good luck,Glenn

Leaking fuel injector orings are rarer than you think unless incompetent owner or mechanic has played with them! Most spinning no starts come from owners flooding engine by not understanding the need to always let an engine warm up if you crank it.

That short 1-2 minute crank and shut off to move a Q into the driveway or garage often leaves them flooded especially in cool weather.

Push accelerator to floor hold, then turn key on, then crank engine for a minute or 2 up to 120 seconds............never pump acccelerator just maintain it floored until it cranks or exceeds 120 seconds.

Most fuel pumps/fpcu don't just fail there was a history of acceleration hiccups and weird starts.

Rear your FSM/owners manual about clearing flooded situations!

Obviously a faulty injector installation can easily damage an injector o-ring.

I've had one occurrence of hydrolocking before - 5 or 6 years ago. The only people who had the injectors out before that were the dealer. They replaced an injector following the hydrolock and I think that was the last injector replaced in the '92.

Maybe they had an incompetent tech work on the car before I bought it (the only place it was ever serviced until I bought it).

I would like to thank the Q45 Tech( Q45 Guru) for the information. I just go home and tried what he said and it started up. Good looking out. Where do you work I need to come see you. I just bought the 94 q45 from Canada that was posted here.
