Just finished translating this from the JDM 1991 180SX Service Manual.

I translated fairly literally on the names. So don't get confused by the AIV valve being called an EAI valve.

Oops. I see an error already. The arrow pointing to the top of the charcoal canister says "3 way connector" on the diagram. I must have been not paying attention because it's supposed to say "Hose Clamp". Was looking over the original and saw I wrote in the wrong thing.

I'll fix that when I get home. I think I'm gonna go back and redo the numbers as well. Looking at them on my work PC is an eyesore 'cause they're so light.

How do you run the hoses if you are ditching the canister?

This is my guessUpper Left: BOV, FPR, Boost GuageUpper Right: Wastegate, Behind the MAFBottom: cappedCanister: Removed and capped with a breather

If you're ditching the canister. Remove the hoses and cap off the ports you don't use. Not rocket science.

That's just a factory diagram everyone and their grandmother asks for. That's why I translated it first and made a jpg out of it.

Nice. Now, what if you don't have the AIV or canister or boost pressure solenoid or AIV control solenoid or a SMIC? Just giving you a hard time.

The joke is only as funny as the punch line

Cold Carb Dip is the stuff you use to clean off parts overnight. It's like a step down from hot tanking.

I bet your face would be the cleanest it has ever been if you did it

^hahaha. Never heard of the stuff though but you know all kinds of odd things about engine building.

I see people bypass the boost solenoid a lot. The car still runs, but isn't that bad for it? Can anyone tell me the direct disadvantages, or effects of removing the boost solenoid?

The selenoid's supposed to stop boost creep and spikes, not that that happens too often without it. Some members have reported their wastegates jumping to 10 psi when they removed it, but out of the dozen or so SR motors I've put in cars, I have yet to see that happen.

^^I have no boost solenoid (usually don't get it with a motorset, only on clips). My stock T25 hits ~9 psi at peak boost, but I also run a 3" exhaust from the stock turbo elbow back. I've been told that running a larger exhaust causes the slight increase in max boost.

Why don't you just go measure it from your lines?

yep if you ditch the can you can use the bottom port for boost gauge but it doesn't read vacuum. top right port is for fpr only. top left is to bov. wastegate actuator comes from hot pipe nipple. remove solenoid

I use the bottom nipple as a wastegate source since it doesn't read vacuum because I don't have a nipple on the intercooler piping and this works just as goodTop ones I use for fpr, boost gauge, and bov

Hate to bring back an old thread but...I just wanted to check to make sure.

On the throttle body, the smaller (of the two) to left nipple is for the BOV, and the larger top right is for the FPR? or is that backwards?
