RB25DET starter

im looking for a starter (working or not) for my RB25DET. my motor was originally a automatic but between japan and my garage, someone stuck a 5speed transmission on it and didnt supply me a starter. is there a USDM starter that will work? does anyone know where i can get one? or is anyone on here selling one?

this is a link which i got from a thread a while ago when i was searching for starter info and i kept it just incase my starter ever went out. i am NOT 100% sure of this starter but, this is what someone on here said we could use for the rb25 motor. someone correct me if this info is wrong please.

here is another link that i found from freshalloyforums that lists a bunch of part numbers for skylines. i suppose they are in conjuction with the nissan company itself.

ok, i don't know what is wrong with that link. it keeps going to nicoclub for some reason..... go to forums.nicoclub.com and then go to Skyline gt-r/gt-s link and it will have a sticky in there with part numbers.

oh ive seen that thread before. i guess the part number for my starter is 23300-20P05. but im not quite sure what im suppose to do with the part number. because i know i cant just go to nissan and have them bring up that part number for me

there was a thread recently where someone used a part from an older nissan that you can get brnad new from napa and such. I'll see if I can find the part number or link later when i get home from work.

To use the part # you have (23300-20P05) you need somone who has FAST and can pull up the part # for you. 99% sure your local Nissan shop does not have it. I know of a few places who CAN get Nissan JDM parts, but it would take over a month to get them here :-\

What is the starter from NAPA off of any way? I'm considering pulling mine to see what it would cross with here Stateside..

Lets just say anyone paying more than $30 for a used starter is getting hosed. Escpecially when they can be bought for $60 new with a lifetime warranty.

if this is true. but does anyone else think the napa starter in this picture looks bigger than the RB starter and therefore wouldnt fit or bolt up?

ok ok I don't have the part numbers with me so this may be a pointless post but I got all my info from the hybrid z forum, so the part number should be the same. Got it from NAPA

And I can confirm it bolts up, but that is all I can confirm. I thought my starter was dying so I went this route and ran into one problem since the solenoid is in a different location then the stock RB starter and the over all diameter of the motor is so much bigger, it hits the heater hose tee. So much so that it makes it impossible to use. I tried moving the heater hose around and no luck, so if you aren't running a heater like most hybrid z guys then you are good. I took it back and was going to take some time and go over a bunch of starters with a buddy of mine that works at napa to find one similar but with the solenoid in a different spot, but never got around to it since my RB starter turned out to be fine. Was going to do another write up about it but got busy hope this helps someone.

thank you for the better picture. it does look like it bolts up now. i dont drive my car in the winter but a little bit of heat is a good thing for those chilly fall days. so you are saying no matter what you do, you cant get the napa starter to work with heater hoses??

actually now that i look at it, it appears that there is two different napa starters.

here is the starter from the hybridz forum

and here is the starter that 300plus posted

it looks like the starter solenoid on the hybridz picture is closer to stock position. now im confused. 300plus can you see if the napa part number you used is the same as the one from hybridz forum in this post ( http://forums.hybridz.org/show...arter) ?

well I'll have to find the pic I took of the part number... But I took the part number to napa and the pic they had on their computer showed the solenoid close to stock position but when it arrived it was not the same as in their picture, they confirmed it was the right part number and said the picture just must be wrong. I guess without the part # we can't really get to the bottom of all this.

300plus, it looks like you have the 2444517 number instead of the 2444514 number. The main difference is the clocking of the solenoid.

I remember talking to you about this part number, but that was before I had the 2444514 number. Scotty has tried this starter and it worked perfectly in his rb25det. He aslo said that it makes a completely different noise than the factory starter. I believe that it makes a different pitch due to the factory starter having a plastic ring gear instead of a metal one.

Awesome that is good to know! I was worried only ppl without heaters could use this but if the 2444514 part number has the solenoid in a different spot then that is a great find for RB guys!

Good thing I brought up that Napa Starter Part thread, just couldn't find the link. I'm planning on doing this same thing as mine makes a noise cuz it doesn't back out fast enough after cranking her over.
