I have been looking to get a Bose radio for a while now. The LCD readout went out on me and the CD player wont eject the CD i have in there. This happened about 3 months ago and i figured i would just scan the air waves and listen to the radio like some folks. Can't do it, its annoying after a while. Anyway, i know this is a common problem amongst the J30 community. This is my first post on here but i always read up on the threads.

My question is this.. Can a Bose radio from different model years work in the J30? i know that they are all Double Din and it would fit, but would it work properly with the harness and the amps?

anybody know anything about this model? : PN2261F

or even any other kind of bose radio from 91-99?

I appreciate anyones help in advance and thank you for taking the time to help me out. I used the flashing search button but couldnt find previous threads about this.

You can use any bose HU out of a Nissan. If its after 95 then you need an adapter, many places sell it. its actually an adapter for a 300ZX but it adapts the newer style connectors to the older harnesses so you can use a newer HU in the car.

Thank you for the information. Now i am on the hunt for a working radio. Do you know if this adapter harness has a part number or something easily identifiable in the name of the product?

If your existing radio has a DNR button on the lower right hand corner, and you get another with the DNR button in the lower right hand corner, you will not need the adapter.

I'll dig up the part number for the harness in case you need it.

It's burried in this thread somewherehttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zer...ber=1

I have a 1993 Infinti J30 and I was able to find a BOSE deck from my local salvage yard model number (PP-20831/CN513) Maufactured December 1994 from a 1995 Infinti J30. My question is where would one find the adaptor for this deck to My in-dash harness. Please give me an idea of where I could find this at a reasonable price.

Thanks,

Most any decent car audio place should carry it.Call first cuz' they might have to order it.

We have a place called Car Toys here in DFW and they had it on a shelf in the back warehouse.

Ohh Jeeze...LOL. Anyways I thought I had seen the adaptor on eBay before. What exactly should I look for or ask for to adapt this radio?

My factory Bose unit went south (CD error) as well.

I replaced it with this Bose unit from a 2003 Pathfinder or Xterra, I can't remember which it was. I bought it off ebay for @ $300 about 3-4 years ago. The wiring harness plugs were a direct fit, BUT... the 1997 J30 factory harness plug had a lead on it that was ground, the corresponding output from the radio was @ 3 volts "output" if I recall correctly so I just clipped the wire in the J30 harness & taped it. Also the "amp on" output from the new unit was not he same as the 1997 J30 harness, as a result I jumped an ignition "on" hot wire from the J30 wiring to the "amp turn on" lead of the factory harness.

Althought this unit has exactly the same mounting screw locations as the J30 factory unit it protruded about 1/2" to 3/4" too far out. As a result I could not fit the factory wood trim back in place. I had to redrill the factory bracket that holds the radio in place for the trim to fit properly.

Now I have a Bose 6 disc CD MP3 player. Normally I get about 100 songs on a CD (I normally encode at 256-320 Kbps hence my files are larger) I have about 600 songs loaded ona total of 6 disc.

J30inthesun- That deck looks great in the J. Can you hear any difference in the sound quality between it and the stock deck?

Only thing is yeah that your deck looks great and I am sure sounds good. But the problem I have still remains, How would I adapt the in-dash plugs from a 1993 J30 to a Newer Nissan/Infiniti Bose Deck as the plugs are very different. I Mean the adapters I have seen or that were pointed Out are not exactly what I need. I have the lil Box already for the Amps as I at Present Have an Aftermarket AIWA AM/FM/CD, model number CDC-X204. What I needed was to adapt the older in-dash plugs to newer Nissan/Infiniti plugs so that I could use an Infiniti/Nissan Bose Deck from 95-Up. I kinda wanted one with the Cassette in a way or an Auxillary out so that I could plug up my XM Radio (Audiovox Xpress-EZ Model: XMCK-5P). The XM-Radio I have is an external one that plugs into the Cigarette lighter and into the Auxillary Out or could use a Cassette adapter or even an FM Adapter which is harder to use, and running an external antenna outside the vehicle to the center roof-line, just above the windshield.

Maybe this Helps...Hopefully.

No there is No Car Toys out here in Charlotte, NC...LOL Anyways what exactly if I say I have a Maxima, what should I ask for, Meaning Terminology? I went to the Crutchfield website and they said they had never heard of an adaptor that would adapt such a setup and so did another place I checked. But they said that the BOSE setup is very finicky on how they are hooked up. So is there a Part Number or anything in particular I should ask for?

The decks sounds great. I only play MP3 CDs encoded at 256-320 kbps. The stock Bose unit sounded good playing regular CDs.
