Hey NicoNauts...

So I decided to buy a pretty much falling apart S13 at the beginning of January, and until several weeks ago it has been waiting in line at a body shop to have a framerail replaced .

However, I did get it back just recently and have been on my grind ever since, trying to produce a slick and unique piece of engineering (Ok, Nissan's engineering...) that can remain somewhat luxurious but perform better than most!

Basically since then I have redone every panel piece by piece, dent pulling, bondo'ing, grinding, sanding, reconstructing, it has been a long process but in the end it should be worth it! Atleast 30 hours have gone into restoring the body, and removing the rust which by yourself is a long time and requires some serious mind numbing skillx0rs.

Anyway, screw my blab about how much time and *ish Ive put into my car - PICTURE TIME!

How I bought her:

After preparation, before paint!

After 1st coat of paint, waiting over night right now for it to dry!

Parts en-route to my garage...

I assume thats a stab at my suspension...

Idea really crossed my mind to take the springs off and cut them - I have heard good and bad things about that...

But as for the motor - I cant wait, all my buddies had their "Mommies and Daddies" buy them their cars, I blew my own cash and bought my heap of crap - hopefully going to turn it into something that will blow the doors off and hustle these rich kids for their worth...

No, don't cut the springs. Just get some coilovers, or save for them.

I was just messing about the suspension, Dont cut your springs, Lowering springs dont cost much at all, but if you are serious about this car, then you should be getting coilovers. I know i will once i get some cash saved up.

Everyone here in Leb cuts the springs, especially on older BMWs that have been engine swapped... Which happen to be at least 30% of every pre-95 BMW here...

Are you going to keep it flat black? I've never understood the whole look with flat black. Why not another flat color?

Update : 3rd Coat

As for the flat, I really want a sleeper look - as you can barely see under my masking I have a layer of 30% tint on my tails, which looks pretty badass! After that, the car goes for Limo Tinting on everything, and a limo 5 inch eyebrow ontop... After all that I'll have some gloss black'd 300ZX powdercoated bawlin rims to toss on there...

Black + Black + Black + Black + Black... + 350HP tuned V8...

Wont see me, but youll sure hear it.

Im doing this VERY soon, Im gonna use interlux bright side marine paint, what are you using ?

Im using tremclad right now, and in an incredibly dusty environment (acreage)... Works good still, but having a couple issues with softness.

Im doing wetsand 1000 grit after first 3 coats, and then 1500 wetsand between every one after that.

On a car that will be highly based on performance and stealth, bling paint isnt really a major issue right now, so if it has a couple scars - I figure it should give the car some character .

Its crucial, mix your paint with mineral spirits/paint thinner - until its barely thicker than water.I press my paint on first, and then very lightly roll over it several times until its all even - and its turning out fantastic, once i get it sanded and stuff it should all be level, and all flat black/grey - which is exactly the finish Im going for!

so thinning it with the mineral spirits doesnt effect the durability or structure of the paint once it dries ?

I could have sworn everyone sprayed thier cars (but without rattle cans)... But this makes sense now that I think about how confined that space is.

BTW, V8 240's make me wish for a clone of my car so I can put VH45 in the car you see below. Or at least one much like it.

Yeah its actually really good... for $42 bucks? I think Im pretty satisfied... I do still have a few bondo marks which are actually really stressing me out

As for my VH45DE, Ill just hopefully drop it in with the 300ZX transmission attached, and wire it up... then its good to go. - Right?...

Well, I got some Gloss - decided to use the flat as a base coat since I got really pissed and found some rocks in my paint...

So, the remaining coats will go on tonight - Ill be sure to keep ya posted... Gotta sand out my bondo marks now and make it look half decent!

See ya!

doing it with a roller is a brilliant way to cut costs, and it looks good unless your eyeball is on the paint pretty much heh...

Well, my parents are incredibly paranoid when I told them I was driving my project car - didnt go over so well... However they did say they would feel safer buying me a new car to drive while I work on my 240...

Datsun 510? R31 Skyline?Old school, but most of them have been very well taken care of and can be found incredibly cheap and in relatively good condition...

Datsun 510 in my neighborhood guy wants $2000, havent seen any pictures yet but I might go see it tomarrow... $2000? I wouldnt mind doing that... and then thinking crazily into the future, I could take my KA from the VH swap, turbo it, and drop it into the Datsun 510 - flip it and make some more cash hopefully :P

This is all so friggin complicated

Looks good man, and if your parents are buying you a DD, I'd stay away from the 510, they would probably be pretty pissed when you brought it home, its a pretty old car. When parents give you money to buy a car, they want to see something relatively new, and STOCK. (Think like, 95 accord with hubcaps).

Update:

Well the motor isnt coming along so well, looks like Im going to have to ditch my V8 dreams due to budget cuts and crap like that... but custom built KA24DE with a couple buddies sounds a lot easier and fun :P

Just gotta find a KA24DE with low miles, anyone has one give me a shout ([email protected])

Paint however is coming along very nicely!

Wow thanks!, frig I hate my exhaust - may add like 10 horses, but its so loud that I cant use them without getting a fine!

Straightpipe from the motor with a fake muffler on it just so you dont get an inspection ticket... :/ Ears were ringing my first day of driving it!
