Hey. I purchased my Y33 1/05. In 7/06, I gave my car a tune up. During that month, I've put on ceramic pads, changed the spark plugs, changed the transmission fluid, switch to K&N air filter (but now peoples say that it's actually bad), and change the oil (5w-30) every 3k miles. I know there are things that I haven't changed on my car, so could people please assist me with telling me certain things that needs to be changed. Things that I haven't done since purchase that needs to be:

1) Flush the anitfreeze fluid. I've been hearing a lot about some red dex radiator fluid but some people say stick with the green stuff? Any suggestions?

2) Change the fuel filter

3) Put new rotors around my car.

What else is there to do? Thanks.

Here's the list of stuff I am working through on they Q I just purchased:
phatyak wrote: "I am currently working my way through changing all the fluids. BG44K in the tank now. Once it is done, BG engine flush and then Mobil 1 Extended Performance with BG MOA additive with a Mobil 1 oil filter. Will also change out the differential and fill with Mobil 1 75W-90. In a couple of weeks changing the transmission fluid (BG treatment afterward), a cooling system flush (BG cleaner), change out of the the power steering fluid (BG treatment), and a brake bleeding adding Synpower High Performance fluid."
My F50 doesn't have a serviceable fuel filter, but that is definitely a good idea as well as the rotors. Check your wheel bearings, tie rods, and shocks/struts while you are doing the rotors.

I'm sure there is more that will be recommended by the more knowledgeable people on here, but that should be a good start.

Flush cooling system (the consensus here is usually to use high quality green coolant 50/50)Wheel alignmentFlush brake systemDrain and refill diffFlush power steering systemFlush fuel system, and clean throttle body and MAFNot sure if you have a cabin air filter. If so, change it.Inspect all hoses and belts, change any that are even questionable. That includes under-plenum hoses, etc.Inspect and replace any questionable suspension bushings and motor/trans mountsInspect, clean all connectors, and put dielectric grease on themInspect all wiring and repair as necessaryInspect battery and cables, clean and grease cable connectionsBlow out radiator and A/C condenser from rear

You may want to run a "CONSULT" to check on condition of injectors, coils, and 02 and knock sensors while you're at it. Ask Q45tech how to further check these items without a CONSULT, which as I understand it, may not tell the full story on these items. Maybe he can give you links to threads that already address these issues.

Follow Phatyak's advice on steering items, wheel bearings, shocks/struts.

As Q45tech says, it can cost up to $6,000 to $10,000 to bring a used Q up to snuff, depending on previous owner's maintenance and how the car was used..

That should cover most of it.

Anyone else have more?

You're welcome, NightRider.

I'm going through much of the same on the '05 Q I bought in January to replace my '94 Q45t. It takes some money, time and effort, but if you do the necessary things, your Q will give you many miles and years of faithful service and driving pleasure.

Enjoy.

Here's something I came up with that I call the Ultimate Q45 Maint Schedule (NICO Standards)

Every Fill Up Check Tire Pressue Check Oil, ATF, PS, Coolant Levels Wash Car

Every Other Fill Up Check Battery Add IsoHeat to gas tank

Every 3000 Miles Change Oil Change Oil Filter BG44K Clean Trottle Body Clean Mass Air Filter Inspect Belts and Hoses Rotate Tires Inspect Air Filter Check Window Washer Fluid Levels Inspect Brake pads, discs, drums, linings, lines, cables Inspect Steering and Suspension System Inspect Drive Shaft Boots and Shaft Lubricate Properler Shaft Grease Inspect Exhaust System Inspect Wiper Blades Lubricate Locks, Door Hinges and Latches Inspect the Underbody

Every 15,000 Miles Brake Pads Replace Fuel Filter

Every 30,000 Miles Replace Air Filter Replace Tires Replace Rotors Replace Belts Replace Thermostat Inspect EVAP Vapor Lines Replace Radiator Cap Flush Transmission, Drop Pan, and Change Filter Replace Rear Differential Gear Oil

Every 60,000 Miles Change Spark Plugs Replace the Idler Pully Replace O2 Sensors Replace Motor Mounts Replace Shocks (60k on stock springs, 30k on eibachs)

Every 100,000 Miles Replace Hoses Plemun Hose Replacement Replace Thermostat Replace Knock Sensors Replace Wheel Bearings Replace U-Joints (Driveshaft) Replace Transmission Mounts Valve Cover Gaskets Fuel Rail Flush Replace Bearings in Idler Pullies Replace Chain Guides (90-93)

Annually Flush Transmission Replace Brake Fluid Use BG OIL CONDITIONER Flush and Replace Engine Coolant Replace Water Pump Replace Wiper Blades Replace PS Fluid

agree with above schedule exceptwater pump every year? excessive! as mine currently has 190,000 miles on it! replace every 100k if you feel the need at best!brake pads every 15k? again,my exp shows fronts to last 70,000 and rear pads to last 50,001 like clockwork on my q with me driving it.Rotors replaced by measuring thickness, not miles.

The water pump is a typo. Thanks for noting that. As far as the pads and rotors go those are the concensus based on advice from Dennis. Of course personal driving habits have effects on that. My brake pads lasted about 3 years. Not sure of the miles off the top of my head.
