  Fuel hose Q45 G50

This has been posted before but can't seem to find the exact details again. What is the type of fuel hose that I need when doing the plenum rehabilitation? This is the stuff you buy by the foot. How many feet do I need of it?

Thank you NICO!

Best deal is the Nissan part number, but you end up with about 8 ft.

Joe sells it by the foot at $13/ft. The whole shebang only costs $39.

Actually, it's all either Metric or SAE.

Get the OEM metric from Joe.

IMO OEM fuel hose is kind of a waste... $40 for 3 feet of fuel hose??? Whatever you gotta do but so far 300psi fuel injection hose has been treating me real good, after a few years...

Id be surprised if even T3 used OEM bulk fuel hose..

Nope, $40 for 2.5m.

And it is sized correctly, unlike SAE hose. Hence, it won't leak around fittings under the plenum on cold mornings as soon.

Unfortunately even old oem hose cannot live with ethanol for an extended period.

Modern advanced hoses have a fluoropolymer [teflon] interliner.

The point is should you be using oem or something better and more expensive that will last and not break down internally?

If it's not available commercially, and if the VH45DE injectors will not survive ethanol, what's the point?

I am getting depressed.

not sure how you get 2.5m for $40 at $13/foot. Besides, you're supposed to replace your plenum hoses (including fuel hoses) every 4-5 years anyway, long before any fuel hose will break down and or leak!! IMO you get a much better seal with the non-OEM clamps, and personally I like to double clamp the fuel hoses. The fittings give you plenty of room most places!

Tech, one has to wonder if the OEM fuel hose for the Q is not sufficent for use with ethanol, like you mentioned, and that something aftermarket with the ability to withstand ethanol might be a better choice...

Buy using the Nissan part number I sent you.

That part number is A6440-N7686.

Hose is 8mm inner diameter. There is no SAE equivalent.

I guess the question I should have asked specifically; what is the diameter of the hose that I need? 7.5mm, 8mm etc? Is it all the same size for the Q? What is the code(s) I should look for on the hose to see that it is quality or not?

Are you shaking your head and scoffing me as you look at this link?
http://www.international-auto..../8140

Where can I buy quality fuel hose locally? Any local resellers of the Teflon hose like in Techs links? Is Advance, Azone out of the question for hose?

Google mostly shows hot rodders steel braided teflon hose for fuel delivery.

Thanks everybody for answering.

Fuel line hose is gennerally used for carburetors, i.e. - low pressure.

Fuel injector hose is a whole different ball game, and much more expensive. Look for at least a SAE R9 rating. And in a metric size.

SAE R9 "? NOT NOW

EPA currently requires R11-A or R12 as oem hose...................they note that while R9 will probably meet specs for conventional gasoline but absolutely will not meet specs when exposed to 10% ETHANOL [page 30 of pdf].......................permation will be 3 to 5 times higher with 10% ethanol blend
http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7...6.pdf......

"Another type of low permeation
technology for fuel tanks would be to
treat the surfaces of plastic fuel tanks
with a barrier layer. Two ways of
achieving this are known as fluorination
and sulfonation. The fluorination
process causes a chemical reaction
where exposed hydrogen atoms are
replaced by larger fluorine atoms to
create a barrier on the surface of the fuel
tank. In this process, a batch of fuel
tanks are generally processed post
production by stacking them in a steel
container. The container is then voided
of air and flooded with fluorine gas."

Ethanol sucks the more I research the problems

You can find it in any local shops, especially, in most family-owned parts shop. I've used gates. wes is right make sure you use brand new clamps with screws.

Is there a braided stainless steel covered hose with 8mm ID that is suitable for fuel lines on injected cars like the Q? Would it be rated R-11 or R-12, hence resistant to ethanol and/or MTBE?

Somewhere I saw a SAE 13 or something, but the stuff was about as pliable as steel tubing. I don't even think it would do a 5" 90° radius.

How many clamps do I need for the fuel hose? I'm doing my plenum this next weekend and I don't want to be without anything.

Are these clamps okay? I'm assuming that they will all be 8mm?

Old clamps should be fine. Just angle correctly for access after plenum installed.
