I am doing a timing chain on an 89 240sx SOHC and forgot which direction the oil thrower goes on. Also, once I get it to that slot in th emiddle of the keyway, do I spin it and let it sit there or do I push i tall the way back against the gear. Thganks in advance.

it's notched so it'll fall into place.

i know, but there is a thin slot in the keyway on the crank about halfway between the front and the gear the oil pump shaft rides on. Once you put the oil thrower on, do you spin it in that little slot so it doesn't go foward or back anymore? Also, which way does it face? Thanks.

Once you have the crank pulley on it won't move anyways, so you'll wanna have the flared edges around the outside pointing away from the crank, with the other side sitting against the sprocket.
