I do agree with your statement bout grenading the engine with a Crank pulley on a street engine- BUT only on certain engines.
Our VH45DEs are INTERNALLY balanced engines, meaning that the crankshaft is balanced properly to not need any external rotating mass to cancel out any vibrations from the crank. Most domestics and some german cars come with LARGE harmonic balancers mounted on the front of the engine right on the crank pulley. If you remove the harmonic balancer it will make the engine run very rough and will lead to bearing failures in the engine.
I've put bout 80K miles I think on my Maxima with underdrive crank pulley and I have yet to have any problems, I also have a lightweight flywheel and those 2 items mounted on opposite ends of the crankshaft haven't done ANY damage but just made the engine so much more rev happy.
We CAN NOT make a AC compressor pulley, it would NOT work.
Gains from the pulleys are due to the weight savings, and I belive we could make some very nice HP gains with the pulleys. I am NOT 100% sure but years ago I heard Unorthodox pulley for the 300ZX TTurbo made 30WHP more. I always thought that was little crazy as I usually seen gains of around 10HP, but the crank pulley on the Z is MEGA heavy, same thing goes for our VH crank pulley. I think its safe to say the stock pulley weights bout 15-20lbs, where a similar underdrive pulley would weight bout 2lbs.
In order to make the ACTIVE owners happy I would need the ACTIVE pulleys that are diff. in order to make them a set. I do not have an active Q nor I know of anyone that does that even has spare pulleys to help out.
Provide me the parts and I will make them for ya.
