Is it a stock TT motor and and ECM, if it is, it is more like 7 psi to be the "stock" mode. If you want to up the pressure, get a boost controler and turn it up.

It was stock, then i reflashed the ECU for enough fuel to 15psi. still no avail, got 7psi. stock is 9.5psi, safe mode is 7psi.

i figured out how to rewire the ecu so it wont fall into safety mode. i'm going to try here in a few.

i wanna see the true potential of this car.

i will have pics very soon, the TT is in the shop right now getting a full tune up and new struts installed. it looks like the TT motor will drop right in. only differences i've seen between the TT and the J30 motors is that they used a J30 oil pan on the TT motor. the Turbos fit very snugly into place, the turbo manifolds barely hitting the steering column by about 3mm.i am surprised nobody else has tried to do this on their j30's. my mechanic said he'll do my other J for $800. it takes about 12 hours labor he says to pull the NA out and drop the TT motor in. other mods, the battery must be relocated for the intercooler piping. the intercoolers are mounted in the bumper, the fog lights are removed and serve as the air channels to the intercoolers.

This car is so flippin fast. I beat a souped up 5.0 mustang the other day. you should of seen the look on his face as I flew right past him!

Does it use the stock transmission or do you have a 5 speed swap?

i must admit, i've been reading this forum for quite some time and just never felt compelled to post on here, however this post got to me.i hope you are not bs'ng but to be honest i don't see how you are almost 400hp with those mods. IF you have a turbo, i don't see you hitting that high of numbers with what you have set up at the psi you have. Post turbo i don't see you hitting the numbers you have below it too, do you have dyno sheets to prove? i have not seen pics from the supposed turbo swap (which if was possible, i seriously would believe many cars on car domain or other sites would have plastered. You've had some time getting your car back from the shop for your "tune up" but until we see non photoshopped pics and a dyno sheet, i think you need to rewrite your signature. If you have done the swap, congrats and if you have pics to prove it that are not photoshopped ( i can tell the difference) i'll eat my words, but i think i can speak for alot of people when i say "this thread is worthless without pics"

thank you... 93j30tI have to agree 100%. I have yet to see any pictures from Drape on anything that he claims, now Like you, i really would like this to be true, and i would like to think that this guy actually did the swap, but with the evidence right now, it just isnt happening.

Completely agree here.

The TT300zx was rated at 280 hp at the flywheel. With serious tuning I would be amazed if the car put down 300 hp to the wheels. You need to take some pics for us and go to the dyno and make a vid.

heres one of the engine bay:

was a pretty simple swap the shop told me. they used 300zx engine mounts, fit right into place. only mods that had to be done were relocation of the oil filter, via a remote oil filter kit and grinding a little metal off of the driver side turbo manifold so the steering joint would fit.

will take more soon, after i fix this huge fu**king vacuum leak i got. the car keeps stalling and wont idle

I agree about the HP numbers. Kinda far fetched, but possible. But you also say "estimated", so you've done your CYA(cover your ***, for those who dont know what that means). I know myself and a few others would love to see dyno sheets and video, I'd like to hear how that bad boy sounds.

As far as 93j30t saying something about if it was possible there would be many cars doing the swap. I dont feel that too many people that own J30's are into doing motor swaps for that kind of power. Most owners might be looking for a few bolt on's but dont want to change the car to that extent. Especially seeing the issues and cost so far with this swap. Computer going into safe mode, vaccum leaks, etc. Along with the price of an engine, transmission, computer, install, etc. From what I've been researching it's not a cheap swap if you want a good motor. And I dont agree that there would be pictures plastered everywhere. Because it's not a popular swap for a J30 among normal owners. Not everyone wants to do this to that kind of car. It's the same as dropping a Supra 2JZ-GTE into a GS300.(fix that from earlier) Just something you dont see everyday.

However I'd like to see a few more pics, just to see how close the manifolds are to the steering assembly and how the turbos fit in the bay.

Not ES300...2JZ's can go into GS300 or SC300 or IS300 - ES's are FWD.

i was kinda hoping for a more detailed pic myself, since the 300zx engine (vg30dett) is rated at 300hp (twin turbo'd) i just don't see him putting out that much hp with that little psi. just my opinion, and the pic of the bay is nice, however none of the actual car itself with the engine in it. if i had done the swap (which i was wanting to since i got the car and was told by 4 shops that it was not possible / cost effective) i would have pics up before, during, while they were swapping it at the shop, the pics of the guys at the shop kicking me out because i wasn't supposed to be taking pictures inside, pictures from outside, pics of me getting back in through the back room, and finally pics of the car with all internals installed from EVERY angle..... but that's just me.

My bad, I thought they were all RWD. I forgot that was a FWD model, but you still get my point

And yeah 93j30t, I would have been taking pics, video, anything I could get to document the process. Just for this reason and because I'd want to show them off.

You're right, well sort of, not ebay, private party.

When i got the car, i took it to Group 5 motorsports here in San Diego, i wanted them to tell me how the swap was done. and they told me it was pretty simple. just had to relocate oil filter and grind a little metal off of the turbo manifold for the steering knuckle.

And if you don't believe this engine can do close to 400hp stock, call JWT, they're the ones who told me it can. at 14psi this engine produces about 396hp.

JWT TECH SUPPORT

The turbo Z engine makes 300hp stock and with our ECU, Pop Charger intake filter and a larger exhaust system you could see about 396hp at the back of the engine potential.

no the J uses the RE4R01A (same as Z32N/A) and the Q (and TTz32) use the RE4R03A

400 HP on a stock motor is very possible by turning the boost up...

I doubt the car is anywhere near the 400 hp potential as of yet, but I trust you can get it there. What kind of exhaust system is on the car?

I would like to see up close pics of the turbos.

i don't think "checkmate" applies here until i see a dyno sheet (this "shop shoulda drawn up one while tuning it to the 396 you are quoting) and more pictures of the car and the turbo's themselves....
