Yesh, except the one that came on the red s13 was mangled from the previous owner's multiple curb-hits, so i took the mint lip off of my dead white s13 coupe and applied the home depot material to it while it was off the car then just put it on. I actually have some leftovers that i might do another lip, it cracked at the corner on the passenger side where the self-tapping screw is because it ate some grass as I was moving cars in the driveway one night.GhostDriver wrote:Did you have the factory lip on your s13?
I agree, but it doesnt seem possible to do it without the factory lip supporting it, which is a shame really.Anand wrote:DO I see a factory lip behind the home depot lip??
if so, why did you do that? I mean, it looks nice and all but why cover up the factory lip like that???
Hehehe. ELITIST! Actually i think 91-94 S13's can pull off the lip the best, but thats my .02. On newer cars like the S14's and even that Maxima that was that thread that started it all it sticks out a little. Not a big deal though.GEO wrote:Forgive me, but I hate this mod.... I *tried* looking for pig-nose lips before going the Home Depot route, and the auctions on ebay went up WAY too high. People were wanting $80-100 for a stinkin used and scraped-up lip. Laughable. And forget real brand-name ones, I'm not paying big cash for something that's going to ultimately scrape on a gutter or is too low to be used on a daily driven car anyway.Anand wrote:the reason people did this in the first place is because they didn't have the money to get a OEM lip which don't come by very often used and the new ones will break your bank... even the used aren't that cheap.
You got the wrong tape, and yes, tape alone won't holdYou need either 3M mounting tape (exterior use!!) and use about 3-4 self-tapping screws (paint 'em black)As for me, i found the vinyl that already has an adhesive on it (more money yes, but the adhesive is very strong) but i still used a combination of leftover 3M tape, and screws for good measure. Doesn't sag, doesn't come off... its trouble freesblack13 wrote:go to home depot
and go to the office floor and floor section,
get them to cut about 7-10 feet of the material you see they put in the corner of office's. It cost me about 4$ for the lip
and more for the tape.
But it fell off in almost a week. Because it was raining, and if you hit a curb with this lip. Haha tape ain't gonna help you.
