Guys I'm still looking for a seat for my S13. I've been searching for a couple weeks and I'm still stumped as to what I should go with. I know I need a good bottom mount seat. What do you guys recommend for a car that's occasionaly used for more than cruising (I don't care if it doesn't recline)? I need some guidance to make my decision.

The trouble I'm running into is mounting and height. I'm narrowing it down to a MOMO Cup seat and Bride side mount for the S13...if that fits.

THis seat:

With this rail:

I may need an adapter plate or just redrill here or there. I just want to know what works.

Well, in short, I don't want to sell my soul for a Bride or any over $700. I'm pretty much strapped for cash when it comes to dropping hundreds on my car because I'm a student. I want to pay around 500 when it's all said and done. I'd like to have my direct contact mods done by the end of the summer (wheel [hub], seat, shifter,...pedals maybe).

I know I want a good side mount seat to have a low seating position. It's just that I need a friggin' side mount rail for a friggin' seat. I know since Bride is JDM, they'd have mounts for the S13 because the Japanese have been tuning the S chassis since forever.

Gah, the Corbeau GTS II is hot. It looks like a nice OE-ish seat, but no harness holes.

If you EVER want to run in a sanctioned race, amke sure that your aftermarket seat meets all FIA/SNELL/SCCA/NASA ratings/approvals tha you need. It would suck missing a race because you didn't pass inspection.

Look to the OEM! S14, S15, and Slyline seats bolt in with zero effort. I really enjoy my S15 bucket...holds my love handles really well! I really like Corbeau seats, but my friend who had 2 fixed Corbeau buckets said that after about a year, they started to get ratty. Not the best product quality.

THe only OE seats I'd go for are the S15 or GT-R seats. I've sat in an S14 and the seats are fine...that's just it, fine. I'd like better holding and support if I'm going to upgrade. However, at the prices that JDM OE seats are fetching I'd be better off with some aftermarket seat. All I need to now is of a side mount rail that fits the S13. I hear that the BRide rails are on backorder so that sucks.

Seriously, s15 seats are wonderful! And you can get a pair for the kind of money you want to spend. Yes they're probably not as good as an aftermarket seat, but ease of install coupled with the fact that you won't have your head jammed into the roof or lack of adjustability (given that you'll have to remove sliders from a bottom mount) make them worth it.

gah what is with all this OEM seat talk. OEM seats are made for 300 pound people. ze fake bolsters, ze do nothing!!! seriously save your money or get a bucket seat. reclinable seats are stupid.

your almost stupid for saying that

depends on what you want to do, have a nice comfortable seat for daily use and a seat that will keep you still on the weekend, that would be a decent reclinable

if you want pure "race style" as some call it or jsut want to stay serisuyl planted then gowith a non-reclinable

Fixed back seats usually require some sort of harness which then requires some sort of roll bar or harness bar (unless you want to risk damaging yourself in the event of an accident). It might be m4d tyt3 and way grippiers, but there's too many other precautions that I would personally have to take if I were to run a fixed seat. And 'ze fake bolsters' on some OEM seatas are not as fake as you think and hold just fine.

edit: n/m there's usually holes for a lap belt to pass through, I guess as long as there are seperate shoulder and lap belts. It seems logistically tough to actually run OEM belts with a fixed bucket though.

Also a fixed back seat just scares me since in the event of a rollover (which is admittedly rare) means bad things for my head. Again, without rollover protection I wouldn't run a fixed-back seat. Nor would I run harnesses without rollover protection. However unlikely, I wouldn't take the risk.

You become 6'4" and 230lb then tell me reclinable seats are stupid...

S14 seats are awsome... w/ 5 point you would have no issues stay'n in them.

Seriously Charlie, think about it man. How could JDM OEM seats be designed for 300lb people? Dude, everyone in Japan is TINY. Like 5'4" and 130lbs. Really man, S15 and GT-R seats are great. I have sat in Corbeaus and Sparco Sprint seats, and while nice, not $500 or $1000 a set nice. Also, with S15 and GT-R seats, you get a seat that will bolt right in, no fuss. No hunting for rails or looking for a welder. My S15 seat popped in in under an hour and is really great. My only complaint is that it needs more shoulder bolstering.
