I removed my timing chain guides on my DOHC KA. Put everything back together, set timing and everything was fine! I drove home and about 15 miles into the drive, there was a bad tapping/knocking sound. It also wants to stall everytime I stop.

I also forgot to disconnect the TPS when i set the timing. What effect would that have?

What should I check, what could it be?

um... you removed all the guides? That's not a good idea. You're only supposed to remove the one on top of the upper chain.

Also, you must turn off the car, disconnect the TPS, start it back up, and then set the timing, or else your timing will jump around like a 2 year old on crack.

I removed both of the upper guides, Most say its ok to remove both upper guides. Is it possible it could be the timing causing the knocking/tapping sound.

my valvetrain makes a tapping noise anyway. It's probably the tensioners.

This more of a knocking under the valve cover. Its not the chain!!

take the valve cover off again it takes like 10 mins, maybe something was left loose.

i removed both upper guides too and its nice and quiet now. but yeah. maybe a loose screw?
