Well, Now im going threw the process of finding good prices, I can get crowler rods and weisco pistons for $1691, What else would i need to do to make this mofo stronger than ever?? Im not looking to make high boost numbers, just something that i know wont fall apart on me at around 400hp and safe, If im at the track or so id want to turn the boost up, but nothing major, not looking for a dyno queen hehehe If i had a bulit bottom end, what is the crank good for as far as HP/TQ and would i need to touch the end? Thanks for all your help!

________________________________________________Well, i bought a rb25det Wensday from a guy in GA. Im not going to flame him. I havent talked to him yet. Anyway, i bought it without a turbo/injectors. I WAS going to drop it into the 240 today, the guy said it had a couple pistons with low compression, so i decided to go ahead and tear it down first and check the head gasket and replace it. Im glad i did first!! Head gasket was shot. So i went even farther. Tear the bottom end apart.. and this is what i found!

Not one, not two but all six pistons worthless Now i need pistons, anyone know how expesive stock pistons are? or what will work with the stock connecting rods? i might as well bore it 20 over while im at it...Someone please help me. Im going to contact the guy to see what he says

that sucks. you might have to go 20 over- there is a chance that your cylinder walls are scored w/ that kind of damage. let me know if you want some oem rb26 pistons. can send you some detailed pics. good luck.

not goin to flame him? i would be screaming at the top of my lungs on the phone right now unless he told you its AS IS and he dosent know the internal condition of the engine, even then he should be able to contact the importer he bought it from to help you.

How much are you wanting for that M16? Right now I have a .270 Win Weatherby and I'd love to own an M16, I have to get one before my friend does lol.

from the look of the damage pistons, i would be very careful with using those con-rods. besure you have them checked out.

Sil:

Thanks for linking a non sponsor..

I KNOW one of our sponsors like phase2, enjuku, 240sxmotoring or MVP would have had that.

now that he bought it there, a missed opportunity to support our community..

I know that motor. It was posted how he blew it up. The pistons on the 25 aren't the strongest. If someone loses compression on the bottom end you can be assured that the pistons are trash.

Good luck on your rebuild.

Say he needs to overbore the cylinders. How does this affect the strength of the motor? Do you have to get headwork done as well? And can any machine shop do this work or is it best to go to an import machinist?

Well the cylinder walls are not that bad, i could just hone them and they will be fine. But since i need new pistons and stock pistons are pretty much the same price as weisco pistons im just gonna bore it 20 to 40 over..., the head is perfect, cleaniest thing ive seen. inspected it head to toe and found nothing wrong besides some very dirty exhaust ports/valves, most machine shops can bore any motor, You were asking about if it will weakin the motor, naw i dont think so...20 to 40 mm 'ers is barely nothing... 86mm is 3.3858268 inches, so divide that heheh

It's a very beefy iron block, so it won't have any negative affects on its integrity.

iron block, but the sleeve is to be careful with, not getting it too thin.

There's a yellow s13 on ebay right now, guy said it made 700hp on stock internals, and finally one of the pistons or something went after a lot of use..
