As far as the chat - yeah, I'm with Biggie here. Most people "chat" via posts. With so many members you'll typically get an answer quickly. Also check out the SEARCH feature and use it liberally - most of your questions have already been asked and answered.
Finally, post up some pics of the before and after. People here understand that all our verts are works in progress and it's always good to see from whence they came.
Welcome!

| I need your opions. I was thinking about rebuilding the KA and thought about putting stronger rods and pistons in the block, also building the head, and boosting it later down the road. From your experiences and knowldege about the 240 is a boosted/built KA better or worse than a boosted/built SR? |
That is so cool! Talk about a 240 owner right there. Someone should make one of those motivational picture things about it. Typical 240 owner with more parts off the cars then on them. lol.

It is pretty much personal preference. |
Not really. I personally have a KA-T car, an SR car, and a RB car. Heres what I've found in my own experience.
1. KA-T- you already have the motor, the car is wired for it, parts are finally readily available and affordable so it breaks down like this
2. SR20- you pay for a motor set, which will run you from $1500-$4000 depending on who screws you for it, then you can put it in yourself if you know how, or you pay someone around $1000 to do it for you including wiring. And when its all said and done, you've for 205hp.
3. RBXX- no matter what, you won't get out for under $3500 and a good bit of work, and then if you make the mistake of a stock RB20, refer to #2.
So in the end, my personal view, and I stress that its just my personal view, if you have a DOHC KA, and aren't a super baller with money to just piss away, you're better off to build that, not only is it bigger displacement, but for the $2500 it would take to do a basic SR swap (and I mean motor set, wiring, motor mounts, FMIC/SMIC, DP, and the other odds and ends) you can have a 300whp or more KA-T set up. I'm sure I'll get flamed out the door for this from the SR fan boys, but its pretty much truth. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my SR car, I just wish it would have come in all my cars instead of having to fork over a couple grand just to get to the starting point.

The FIC gets very very mixed reviews, I've dealt with them on a Supra and a IS300 and both were bad experiences. Then in the same few weeks a customer had it on a car that he tuned and it seems to work great for what he needed. Have you googled the reviews of it?

Over the pond you can pick up a decent SR for £600 with a loom, and 350hp out of it is only another £750 odd. We dont see many KA's, but the general opinion over here is "truck engine" - how do they compare??

There are plenty of high hp built KA-Ts, it is pretty much personal preference here. The SR bing a little higher revving, but the KA having more torgue especially in lower RPMs.

I got the wheels powdered coated and need to go pick them up and put new tires on them. Next on the list is a 5 speed swap I figured out its going to cost me around 2 grand. I already have hatch door panels but I am going to wait till I have enough money to get new seats and pretty much redo the whole interior.

lol, so you have to walk to the pass. side to unlock the door then walk around to the drivers side to get in?
I took the locks out of my OG doors then put them in to my coupe doors. I think you can swap the locks from pass. to driver side too, I remember being very careful not to switch mine because they looked so similar
Also i got my new spl subframe spacers in the mail today

Cool...that's what I was thinking as well...I think some people were just putting out bogus info about powder coating. Brake temps well exceed 300 degrees and though I'm sure rim temps don't reach that, I wouldn't think the baking temp would effect the rims. I've had a few items on my car powder coated and plan to have a few more things done but I would like to find a good shop that does it locally so I don't have to pay shipping. Thanks again for the info 240daveTX

Weatherstriping may have to be custom or ebay. New door panels probably don't exsist, best bet is to find used and/or get an upohlstery shop.
Check ebay/craigslist and our classifieds for a used AT tranny. Should be many around due to 5-speed swaps, any '91-'94 AT tranny will work.

Get you an Exedy clutch kit. You can get an OEM one for about $190 or you can get a High Performance Stage 1 for about $335. Here is a link to the OEM replacement clutch: http://www.frsport.com/Exedy-O....html
It's the one I went with when I did my 5-speed swap and it works great.

| got a question guys im temp gauge will go all the way up and I will pull over, pop the hood and the motor will feel normal. Im thinking it might be my thermostat but I just had a shop put a new one in. Could it be that they could have installed it wrong? |
One way is to jack up the front end(or park on incline), put a big funnel in the rad and put coolant in the funnel. Run the car to get the thermostat open and press the top hose to force air out.
There are muliple methods as the KADE is well known for air bubbles.
