It should be mated to the CVT transmission setup, which given the expected low curb weight of the vehicle, should make it plenty peppy.. yet still very fuel efficient.
I've heard estimates of 37mpg. That's pretty solid for a vehicle with small to medium size SUV type storage space inside.
The new e-4WD should be a pretty cool feature as well. I don't think we've seen this from any vehicle in the US yet. The two rear wheels will have electric motors which will engage and power those wheels in the event of the front wheels slipping. It will provide similar benefit and usefulness of the current AWD systems, yet require much less weight, equipment, cost, and future repairs. I love the idea!!!

That is not a good comparison. They are comparing the very weak JDM engine (which is great for Tokyo traffic) to a USDM Toyota motor.

eAWD combo has been working well for the Tiida guys

If they release a manual transmission, I want one. I would totally trick it out. I would really enjoy the "WTF?! factor." You know, you see a slammed box rolling on some oversized rims trying to get you to race him in your SR20'd drift beast.
If the eAWD system doesn't make it here, that is okay. I don't drive in scary conditions often enough for the amount it would cost- plus if I know I am going to drive in something likethat, I could change out the tires or bringa friend to get out and push. It's not like the car weighs anything. And yeah, I think it's awesome that the cube is a foot shorter than a miata. I used to think miatas were small!
If they give it a smaller engine, well, I would probably be upset. I could probably handle a little loss of power, but there isn't much to lose...
USA as a nation needs to move to smaller, more efficient vehicles.

the cars weight is about as much as an s13
and i doubt its gonna be a foot shorter than an mx-5 because i walked next to one yesterday and it was a little bit above my waist.....
so it might be a foot taller but i doubt a foot shorter (im 6 foot)

Based on what's happened with the Versa there is no way we would buy one within the first few model years. Odds are pretty good we will never buy another Nissan anyway.

Im on the versa forums here on nico, but figured id swing over here. I love my versa aside from all the recalls and problems I have had with my 07 HB. I average anywhere from 29 to 34 mpg usually last fillup i got a all time high of 38.3 mpg. But I might consider trading it in when the Cube comes out. I love the 1st gen xb and as long as the boxy feel and everything stays with no huge changes Ill definitely give her a test drive in spring and see what I think.

if it gets the 35-37mpg i've heard and gets the 122hp motor with the E-AWD and keeps the same look for around 12-13K i will most likely pick one up.

Retro style bench seating, pretty plain interior, a bunch of compartments to hide miscellaneous items. Sweet little city car.. If its got the leg room in the back, i'll consider the buy.

Unique enough to step out of the shadow of bland that most econocars live under, and square enough to be pretty practical, it's an oddly appealing little car. I wonder if Toyo makes Open Country A/Ts in 205/65/15...

Trust me when I say this. It has great legroom in the back. I am close to 6' tall, and my bass player has one. I have sat in the front, back and also driven his, and I absolutely love the thing. It's quite comfy and the drive is excellent. The only draw back is if the back seats are slid all the way back, there isn't much cargo room.
But, Nissan does offer a Cube3 over here, which is a Cube with two little jump seats in the back, which offers a bit more cargo room.
As far as a manual trans option, I don't think it will get one. It's one of those cars that Nissan never put one in over here. All autos.

Being the owner of a 2006 scion xb, I'm going to say that most people will like the CUBE if that is the "type" of car they are looking for. I wanted a cube at the time I bought an xb (die hard nissan guy) but low and behold they were not sold in the USA. I have considered trading my xb in for one. BUT my xb is pretty close to being paid off. I'm only 23 and have a 240sx project at the same time. So having no car payment will most likely sway me to keep the xb. If the cube gets a decent power plant the car should be great. That is the only complaint i have on the xb.....to slow. Its hard to make those highway passes or get up to speed on highway on ramps in some cases. But on the other hand it feels like a go-kart and is very fun to daily cruise. If they have the same hauling capacity, the CUBE should rock. I have hauled hoods, quarter panels, sets of wheels and tires, bumpers etc in my xb. These boxy cars are great in my opinion. Cheap and reliable. Even with the expensive gas prices my average gas station trip would be upper 20's lower 30's in $. Depending on prices obviously. to these cars

You know how most people call "shotgun" to sit up front. My friends dont even care....some actually prefer the back. Lots of room, almost feels like you need a walky talky to talk to them lol. So if the cube is remotely the same as the xb you should not have to worry about that.

The car totally convince me too buy one in the near future. You got a lot of room, the seats are confortable, driving position good. The trunk got a lot of place too when you move foward the rear seats and even more when you pull them down. The desing is great too in person. Seeing it in person even convince my girlfriend that the Cube is a nice car. At first she was like: ''Not enough trunk to carry a baby stroller in there!?'' I went to the rear seats, pulled them foward and she was like ''oh great! Good choice of car'' and she laughed. Can't wait to get a test drive of it.

Totally love it, drive a little bit like the Versa but different a some points. Turn well, drive smooth, the engine do the job well for the car, confortable seats, very good driving position. Even riding shotgun, my girlfriend like the Cube more than her Versa while being passenger. Well, I'll wait till june 23rd to know if I won one of the 50 Nissan Cube that Nissan Canada give in a contest which I was finalist to truly drive one, or else, I'll just sale the Sentra to get one.
