Post Title: Consult wiring...
Posted by: T45 at 4:26 AM 5/6/2008

So I ordered a consult cable off ebay. Can anyone tell me or point to a page in the fsm of how the Q consult plug is wired? I have the plug in the Z which I plan on re-wiring to the Q ecu but can't find the stock Q plug wiring.

FYI, t was 69 bucks but I sent him a best offer of 50 + shipping and he took it.

Nevermind, I found a diagram in the FSM. I'll be posting a complete wiring diagram for the Z shortly.

The hookup was very easy. There is actually one or two wires listed in the consult diagram that you don't hook up.

that would be the chk pin, no usdm nissans seem to use it.

It works great! Helped me diagnose bad injectors and adjust my tachometer more accurately already. Totally worth the money!!! One of the best investments you can buy for your Nissan period!

Will be really useful on the dyno.....if I ever get it finished.

I'm having a little trouble with my wiring for the Consult port.

This is what I have found.

Q45 side:
Brown and Yellow > Pin 21 on VH ECU
Black and Blue > Pin 22 VH ECU
White > Pin 47 VH ECU
Brown and White > Pin 31 VH ECU
Brown > Not sure, speedo?
Black > Body earth

Z32 Side:
Blue > Pin 21 VG ECU
White > Pin 22 VG ECU
Orange > Pin 31 VG ECU
Black and White > Pin 47 VG ECU
Green > Not sure, speedo?
Black > Ground

No guarantee that those colours are right on the VH side, I have a '93 Jap Spec motor and am trying to use '94+ US Spec Q45 diagrams. Pinouts appear to be the same though and the motor runs.

I've matched up the pin numbers for the 2 ecu's so that the VH Pin 21 is connected into where Pin 21 from the VG ecu used to go.

This is what Nick had in his VH to Z32 wiring sheet, and makes sense from the wiring diagrams I have.

I'm using a ECUTalk readout rather than the usual laptop connection. I have verified it work on a mates Z32. According to the ECUTalk people it has worked on VH's before (I've seen one working with my own eyes).

So what's the problem? Any suggestions.

I'm just going to try my spare ECU and see what happens...

Appears it was the ECU, it connects with my Impul ECU.
