Join us as NICOclub presents the first annual NICOfest at GT Live!

NICOFest at GT LIVE

NICOClub.com and GT LIVE have teamed up to bring you the hottest
Nissan meet ever!

NICOFest will offer no less than four different participation options including a car show, time attack, rally-cross and drifting, all as part of GT LIVE.

Come cheer on the Unitech 350Zs in Grand Am or the 240s and GT-Rs in the GT Track Attack Championship. A few lucky individuals will also be able to get some hot laps in a real race or time attack car.

At the core of NICOFest will be a welcome tent and Nissan-specific vendor area. And yes, you may participate in more than one activity.

When: October 6-8, 2006
Where: Virginia International Raceway, 1245 Pine Tree Road, Alton, VA (434)-822-7700... More info: GT Live Tour Info
Tickets: $40 gets you admission for BOTH days of activities. Bring your camera, there's gonna be lots to see!!!

Torry and I will be there, and we're definitely gonna need some help getting the word out...

So, I know it's short notice, but if you guys can link this ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE that Nissan owners might see it, that'd ROCK.

See you guys in VA!

Sounds like its gonna be a great time and a lot of fun. Wish I could go...but with school, money, and everything else I wont be able to make it Hope everyone that goes has a good time!

Damn, less than a month after NOPI. I might decide to skip NOPI and make this instead. I can't do both.

Post Title: Re: (gniknave)
Posted by: MagikDragon at 10:53 AM 8/22/2006

man this will be awesome, I really want to go. I plan on participating in something if I go. I am going to discuss it w/ some people and hopefully go down. I love time attacks.

Post Title:
Posted by: HashiriyaS14 at 11:19 AM 8/22/2006

Since this is going on, I almost certainly will be skipping NOPI now, as it's a helluva drive for me.

I'll link on all my local forums, and I'm heading out to RedShift this week to pick up a bumper, so I'll spread the word out there too.

LOL, I just got back from VIR on Sunday. I saw the signs for GT live, and they were handing out flyers like crazy.

I hadn't planned on going because im more of a grip racing guy, and this seemed to be more focused at drifting, but I might have to go to meet some of you guys, its only a couple hour drive for me.

Post Title:
Posted by: AZhitman at 11:29 AM 8/22/2006

Marcus - Make sure your local crews know about this, it's gonna be a great time!

the main event is the grand am cup 12 hour race so you should certainly go

and you should bring your hoosiers with you so i can try them

Post Title:

Yeah, thats reason enough to go right there.

I might have to get into the time attack too, Patriot course was alot of fun last time I raced on it, but this time i would have the hoosiers.

I would still get owned probably though, I can see it now, 500+ horsepower 350's and swapped 240's against my 130 (maybe) Whp S13. lol

Post Title:

Im pretty sure that my girlfriend and I will be there.

Whether or not I do Tarzans Lap battle is dependent on my job status in the coming weeks.

And for those of you who havent been there, It is a really awesome track, lots of places to watch, and a ton of room to walk around and check out vendors and other cars. Pretty good food too, although expensive.

There is not much to do outside of the track though, Danville is a pretty boring area.

VIR's website:
http://www.virclub.com

I need to get my hands on a NICO T-shirt, so I can be picked out of the crowd.

we might be able to still do something, depending on your class schedule, let me know

Post Title:

i think the GT sim race is the ride-along part...which would mean itd last 6 hours but its not like a 6 hour race or anything

according to grand-am's website the grand am cup race is 12 hours, but maybe they made it 6 to accomodate everything else

Post Title: Re: Correct race info on GT Live at VIR

Had to jump in here to get you folks the straight scoop.

Grand-Am Cup will run two six-hour enduros, one for the Grand Sports (GS) class (bigger cars such as 350Z (won here in April), Mustang GT, Pontiac GTO, Porsche 911, BMW M3) and one for the Street Tuner (ST) class (smaller cars such as Chevy Cobalt, Acura RSX-S and TSX, Mazda RX-8, BMW 330, BMW Z4 and Mini). The USERA (United States Endurance Racing Association) will run two three-hour races. All these races, plus practice and qualifying, will be on the 3.27-mile full course. There will also be pro time attack and GT Sim Race (fans get to ride in race cars on hot laps) on the full course. Amateur drifting and amateur Time Attack ("Tarzan's Lap Battle") will take place simultaneously on the 1.1-mile Patriot Course. Plus there will be rallycross on our gravel rally stages (drive your own car), kart racing on our state-of-the-art 5/8-mile paved karting circuit (drive our racing karts), Spoon Sports Festival, NICOfest, stunt bikes, car show, bike show, vendors, music and girls. Other than that, there's nothing going on...

We are really looking forward to having you folks at VIR, and showing off our beautiful facility. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of help.

Anybody want to share a hotel/motel room with me?

I get discounts ad Red Roof Inns because of my nasa membership, but I dont know if there are any in the area.

I do know that there is a budget inn in Danville with 2 beds with uncomfortable blankets and ****ty water pressure in each room, for $60/night.

Shoot me an email or throw it up here.

Post Title:

Camping never even occured to me. That might be a cool idea, of course I would have to buy a tent or something. I would like to know what everyones plans are.

We could just get a a whole floor of a hotel and have a 3 day party.

Post Title:
Posted by: nismofly at 5:27 PM 8/29/2006

camping's awesome when the weathers nice because youre right there, you can do whatever, hang out with people easily, etc etc

however, when the weather isnt nice, camping can easily ruin a weekend

and thats the same thing i was thinking with the hotel

Post Title:
Posted by: 240marcuSX at 5:36 PM 8/29/2006

I wonder what greg is doing? greg chime in here and let us know what your plans are. BTW you can send me some of those flyers to distribute, I can post them around school.

Well the weather in October should be pretty nice temperature wise but you never know about rain.

I want to run in the tarzan lap battle, but Im not sure if theyll let me run with my floor-mounted 5 point harness and no roll cage, they let me before, but im not sure. I know its not the safest thing in the world, but I feel that my chances of rolling are remote.

Post Title:

This whole event sounds like it would be GR8! We were talking about having a regional meet for the NC/SC/GA folks the weekend prior to this event, but I'm not so sure how that will turn out with Nicofest going on. I really want to go to VIR and see all the events, my 240 should be ready by then. Post up more details about hotel info, I'd be interested in staying overnight, albeit camping out sounds good too!

Post Title:
Posted by: gr8bryt at 8:07 AM 8/30/2006

BTW,does that $60 dollars for meals also include the cost of entry ($40), or is that separate?

Post Title:
Posted by: AZhitman at 10:03 AM 8/30/2006

$65 VIP pass is optional. It's a hospitality ticket for people that want to eat cooked meals in the hospitality building rather than get hot dogs and eat at a picnic table. A meal at VIR costs $10 anyway and the $65 gets you 6 meals total as well as hospitality access.

It's money you'd probably spend anyway, we're just offering a better option...

So when do tickets go on sale? I can't remember how it went. If you buy them in advance they are cheaper right?

***ANOTHER UPDATE!!!***

We will not only be introducing the G35 Rolex GT car, but driver Brian Sellers will be hanging out in the NICO booth for autographs and to chat about the car!

Also, we *might* be bringing some cool schwag for you guys...

Stay tuned!!!

Post Title:
Posted by: 240marcuSX at 3:48 PM 9/5/2006

I want some cool schwag.

Sky - You can buy tickets online right now, for $40 for the weekend, that will save you $10 off the price at the gate, this is what I will be doing, because I know I'm definately going.

I say we get a NICO kart race with a grid standing start at some point during the weekend, their kart track is mega-cheap usually, $30 per half-hour!!! For those of you who go to kart tracks, you know what a great deal that is.

There is just so much to do that I cant even wrap my head around it, I could be entertained for a full week!

Post Title:
Posted by: AZhitman at 3:54 PM 9/5/2006

Oh there WILL be some NICO-Challenge kart racing!!!

Post Title: Re: (AZhitman)

I hate you all.

cause VA is so far away that I can't go.

Can we have a NICOfest at GT LIVE in the midwest... Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI maybe??? Please!

Post Title:
Posted by: 240marcuSX at 4:33 PM 9/5/2006

surely someone is coming from WI that can road trip with you?

Jesda, you up for it? St Louis is Sort-of like WI.

Im so excited about this, I had a blast a few weeks ago when I went, and that was a motorcycle event, this is sure to be 100x better for me.

We still need to book hotel rooms and such, or someone needs to let me sleep in their tent.

Post Title: Re: (240marcuSX)
Posted by: pirate87 at 5:17 PM 9/5/2006

bump for NicoFest! I'm def camping out, even though I only live 40 mins away. We can form a Nissan village...just like Thunderdome, road warrior style.

Post Title:
Posted by: AZhitman at 5:30 PM 9/5/2006

I'm thinking tents are a GREAT idea.

I have a motorhome reserved for the staff, so we're in the infield.

I'll check, but I think you guys are welcome to camp out nearby.

Post Title: Re: (AZhitman)
Posted by: pirate87 at 5:43 PM 9/5/2006

I was on the VIR's website last night trying to get camping info...where, permit? etc.. but I found nothing. I just imagined all that grassy area before the North Paddock would become campground. I know my aunt and uncle used to go out there and camp at races all the time...but that was back in the 1960's before they re-did the place...anyone have any info on camping? rules, regulations, and where it's allowed?

Post Title:
Posted by: AZhitman at 5:53 PM 9/5/2006

I will be talking with the promoter tomorrow - Let me check and get back to ya.

Post Title:
Posted by: 240marcuSX at 5:57 PM 9/5/2006

During the Suzuki Big Kahuna weekend a few weeks ago, there were tons of campers inside of the North course over by the north-west end of the patriot course. I didnt see alot of tents meant for sleeping, just tents setup to sit and watch the races.

good man, you know I'm skipping class for this one

Post Title:
Posted by: AZhitman at 12:07 PM 9/7/2006

OK, here's the deal!!!

Tents are GOOD TO GO! I (and the NICO staff) will be staying in an RV on-site, and I believe we can set up the tents nearby - It's gonna be a tailgatin' GOOD TIME!

Someone bring a grille and a cooler!!!

Also, we STILL need to get the word out on this event to some more people. If you guys can link this thread ANYWHERE you think people in the area will see it, that'd be great.

Aw, man - I can't WAIT for this!!!

Also, you guys know the G35 Rolex Cup car will be there, right? AND Brian Sellars, the driver!!!

^hook me up with those clutch cylinders, and lines you have for sale...and I think we can work out your tent situation

...seriously though still for sale?

I can bring an extra tent, if you need it.

Kart racing!! Do we need our own helmets?
and what's this about a "Drift 101"?

here's a pic of Tarzan from Formula D this past 9th

Post Title:
Posted by: 240marcuSX at 8:09 PM 9/12/2006

You do not need to bring your own helmet for kart racing, but if you have one, you should bring it.

they give you helmets and collars for kart racing, but some of them dont have face shields, and last time i was there, there was some sand on the kart track, and you dont want sand flying in your face while driving one of those karts.

Greg - I got the flyers in the mail today, all 100,000 of them, lol. I got to get busy passing them out.

Are any of you guys going to be there on Friday? If so I was thinking of taking off from work, and coming down early afternoon when I get out from school.

Post Title: Re: (240marcuSX)
Posted by: EZcheese15 at 8:25 PM 9/12/2006

I believe Greg plans on arriving Thursday night. Me and Chet will be up there as soon as we can get out of work, but it will probably be 12 or 1am Friday night before we can get there.

Amy, you were at formula D? me too. It was alot of fun wasn't it? Looks like you had some pretty good seats. My roomate got us on the track for most of it. Hope you can come to VIR. I'm going to try and not break down.

BTW Greg can I be part of NICO fest??

Here's the deal on camping at VIR:

A camping pass is $50 for the weekend for tents and pop-ups. For campers and motorhomes, it's $100. You must have a multi-day ticket to purchase a camping pass. They can be purchased at the track upon arrival.

The Plantation Valley Kart Track does have helmets, as noted above. Some of them ARE full-face helmets. If you have a helmet, bring it.

I'll be checking in here occasionally to see if there are more questions.

Looking forward to the GT LIVE weekend! It's going to be great.

BTW, the G35 GT car has tested here during development. You guys are going to be knocked out!

See you soon!

John Gardner, PR Director, VIR

I would be willing to meet up with people, the only problem is, I only live 2 hours from the track.

VIR PR: Heres my question, I might not camp on the VIR grounds, I might get a hotel room instead so, do they lock the gates to VIR at night? I would like to be able to stay as late as I want and hang out with these guys^, but I dont know if I would be able to get out afterward.

Read the fine print. It's $65 *on top* of your ticket costs.

I'm only going to be at the event for all of Friday and Saturday, and IMO, one day's worth of food isn't $65. No thanks. If your'e going to be there all of Saturday and all of Sunday then maybe it's worth your while.

The food is definitely worth it if you'll be there all weekend, especially when VIR charges like $6 for a dog and a soda. Bleh.

VA, looking forward to it!

Post Title: Re: (AZhitman)

is the car show $65 ontop of the 40 regular peple pay to get in, and does it only cover the car and the driver, or does one passanger get included on that? The wording is a bit confusing.

Also if someone has an extra tent that they can bring for me and a few friends that would be awesome.

Pirate87: do you still need that Hydraulic line and Cylinders, LMK

entry for the weekend at the gate - $50 per person

car show - whatever the fee is for the show per vehicle

vip pass - $65 for the weekend

Ed, are you on the glue again?

If you already bought a pass for yourself and your passengers, just get there - You can park in the N Paddock (unless you want to do the car show).

Bah! Turns out that I am told we are staying for some of Sunday also, so someone in our group already got us all VIP tickets.

I don't know if you know how to deal with this, but the guy that got us the VIP passes also bought us the $40 tickets as well without telling me. It's probably already at my house. What should I do? I think it's too late for him to call and cancel (he did it last weekend I think). Maybe I can sell my ticket to people coming to the gate? haha.
