you can use either. although the stock glass will weigh it back down.
its up to your budget.
we carry percy's speed glass. price is roughly $380 depending on thickness and style.

I posted a thread, but got lukewarm reception. Any chance you could make one set and I could "advertize" for you? I know that there are a few hardcore guys on the Q forum that would buy after they saw it.
I'll pay for labor and material to get the first set made.

it would be too expensive to make just one of each.
it would only be cost effective if you can round up enough people.
if you are really interested in paying for it give me a call and we can talk about it.

How much does the Kouki stock trunk weigh vs. the carbon fiber ones you make.
i think the stock trunk weighs about 24lbs. our trunk will weigh about 6 to 8lbs.
if you want it lighter we can make it lighter but it may become too flimsy or too expensive.
flimsy process - we can lay up thinner fiberglass with less layers.
expensive process - we can vacuum bag the part and compress the materials (like most race cars) this will make the part lighter, stiffer, stronger, and more expensive.
if you want to use hood pins only we can make only the outer shell only which would cut the weight to almost half on a wet lay-up process and over half on a vacuum bag process. dont know what those would exactly weigh though since we we have not had any requests for that.
either process the trunk or the hatch will be much lighter than stock.
we will be getting in the first batch of hatches on friday or saturday of next week.
since too many people have asked about it we are no longer limiting the discount to the first 10.
we will give the discount out until the end of august.
any OEM style hood will be on sale as well. $395
$360 if you purchase with a hood or hatch.
we carry a full line of goodridge brake lines, silicone hoses, odyssey batteries, AIM SPORTS digital dashes, Motul lubricants,AEM, K&N, the list goes on and on.
we also have a special on oil changes right now.
$49.95 for a 4cyl. oil change with Motul 300V double ester 5w40 or 15w50
this will be till the end of august as well.

how much more for the vacuum bagged parts? Also how many liters of oil will be in that "oil change for $50" deal? I need about 6 liters to do an oil change on my car now and it's a 4 banger...
it will be for 5 liters. it will be an additional $15 per liter.
your looking at about $1000+ on a vacuum bagged part. it will depend on number of layers, materials, etc.
some people will include a layer of kevlar to help reinforce the structure or some sort of honeycomb or core mat and leave out the inner frame.
its all up to you on what you want it to be and what your actual goal is.

What is fitment like on these parts? I work in a paint/body shop and I've seen way too many poor fitting CF and FIberglass parts not to ask about fitment? Will the gaps be correct, will the parts be smooth and ripple free, and will they have the proper curve to match other body panels? I've seen a number of hoods that went stright out instead of following the curve of the fenders.
our hatches and trunks will have a perfect fitment. our molds are still new and have been well built to handle multiple parts for a long production runs.
we sell other brands as well but you can see that the mod that they are using are wither getting pretty tired or have not been made well.
we will post pics of the hatches once they are done.
thanks.

looks good. i must ask though. is installing the rear window something that i should have a shop do since i have no suction cups?? or is there a way to install it without??
yes, if your going to install the stock glass you should have a auto glass shop do it. the surface will have to be roughed up first also.
if you install lexan you will have to bolt or rivet the lexan on along with sealing it.

cool. thats what i thought. also do these come with any type of warranty? have you installed them on a car yet to make sure it can withstand the rigors of daily driving? what about the rigors of track days? will the stock latch bolt up as well as the cross bars that open it? it the cf trunk for the s14 looks that good i'll almost for sure buy one.
all of our hatches have seen daily use and track time. we have not had any complaints on them at all.
if you are going to use this hatch for the track i sggest you purchase some lexan or at least some plexiglass. it would kind of defeat the purpose of cutting the weight of the hatch just to add it back on with the OEM glass.

is that like a cutout for the 3rd brake light? is it possible to just leave that piece there for a 3rd light delete?
yes, there will still be an outline for the cutout though.
if you get the fiberglass hatch you will be able to sand it smooth and paint over it and it will cost less than the carbon hatch.

What's the weight difference of the carbon hatch and a stock hatch?
its about a 25lbs difference compared without glass. We didnt weight the glass. yet. We dont have the stock glass anymore. i think the glass would weigh about 22 to 25lbs. if anyone has weighed one please me know.
over-all, i'm guessing, if you get a carbon or fiberglass hatch with lexan or acylic you can save about 40lbs.
in combination with the hood you can save close to 100 lbs.
we still have room to manipulate the weight. we can lay thinner layers of fiberglass with as little resin as possible, but the thinner and lighter it gets the more flimsy and weaker it gets....unless you vacuum bag the part with some core material. if we bagged it it would be 4 lbs or less.

Whats the Weight diff, from the carbon vs the fiberglass? Just the bare hatch... Thankyou.
OEM hatch about 23lbs
carbon hatch 8.5
fiberglass 8.5~8.9
not much of a difference. its not vaccum bagged. even then it will get significantly lighter but you will see very little difference between the two.
